i want to be an artist but how do I know I am talented?

you are an artist or you are not.
If you wonder if you are talented first do you draw and paintt all the time. second do you think about drawing and painting all the time? when you do paint and draw do people think it is good. Those are the things that make you talented, doing it and practicing all the time and not being able to do anything or wanting to do anything but art.

Being an artist is not always about talent. It is more about absolutely having to express yourself through one or more of the arts. If you feel most alive when you are engaged in your art, then you are an artist. Talent is often over-rated. If you are truly interested in your art, then over time you will develop the technique that you need to express what you want/have to communicate.

have you seen some of the crap hanging in the art museums now? A preschooler could have done it! If you want to be an artist then DO IT!!!If you love art and expressing what you have inside then screw the critics and GO FOR IT

A writer is someone who writes, and artist is someone who creates. Using what you are given, isn't that a talent?

It's all a matter of perspective. If you think you are then you are. If you have trepidations about it then it will be mighty hard to convince the art dealer you are worthy of his time! Whatever you do just don't ever give up on yourself!
