Chill.. and perhaps tomorrow it will make more sense. And you should see your doc again soon for how to manage your IBS.

IBS can be painful. But it does not damage the bowel or cause any other diseases.

My sis has it. In a nutshell:
You won't feel so good.. cause your gut cramps from time to time. And you might be losing weight because you bowels might not be holding food.

You will probably have to modify your diet. And if you can get your nerves and stress under control.. then you can probably get your IBS under control. You can even be symptom free for years. cool hun!

re: diet:
Diet Changes Some foods make IBS worse.

Here are some foods that may cause symptoms:

* fatty foods like french fries
* milk products like cheese or ice cream
* chocolate
* alcohol
* caffeine (found in coffee and some sodas)
* carbonated drinks like soda

It means when you get stressed your bowels get irritated and you have diarrhea. You must be holding your emotions inside of you and this is now affecting your body-this is also common ailment . You must learn either to manage stress and tor to express your feelings. If there's no one to talk to start a Journal-a good way to get things out of your system by writing your emotions,feelings into your journal-it also gives you a better picture of yourself for your emotions,after all, are you. You can also manage your emotions by going over what you wrote,you'll learn what gets you upset,the things that get you stressed and learn how to avoid and or to handle situations without getting so upset. If you can afford -most insurance will cover-find a Psychologist in your are and have some therapy which really helps a lot and perhaps you can then join a group therapy where you hear other people talking of stress,what upsets them and how they handle and get ideas and ,most important, get Support-that you are not alone with this.

Why the heck didn't you ask your doctor to elaborate when he told you what the diagnosis was? Also, use a search engine. You can find all you need to know about IBS.

You must be looking in the wrong places. Go to a medical web site called "alta vista" they've never let me down on information.

If your doctor didn't give you enough information to tell you what was going on with your body he isn't a very good doctor. I would go to WebMD and see if they have any good information or go to Zelnorm.com

I think you need to research it more. Try www.ibsregister.com/ibs_symptoms.htm and ask your doctor or HMO education center for more information.

If your doctor wasn't able to help, and you're young and otherwise healthy, try going to a homeopath.

ask your doctor. It's wrong for a doctor not to explain that stuff to you.
