The scripture in 1 Timothy says nothing about women being worth less. She has a different ministry then men. When she was made God took a rib out of man. God did not take from the feet or the head but from the side. This indicating women being equal with man. There is in no place in the Bible that says that either are worth less. They have different ministries but the same truth applied: the greatest is the servant of all. The first shall be last and the last shall be first. Galatians 6:3 "For if anyone thinks he is something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself." And if you think that you are something: Psalm 39:5 "...Surely all mankind stands as a mere breath!"

and according to scripture, Galatians 3:27-29, it says,"for as many of you as were baptized into Christ, have put on Christ, there is neither Jew nor greek there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus, and if you are Christ's then you are Abrahams offspring, heirs according to promise"

12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve.
14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
15 Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.

I think this passage was a sign of the culture Timothy was living in at the time. Yes, at that time, in that culture, women were considered less valuable. There are places on this planet still that consider a man to be of more value... like China!... it was just the culture...

Just remember that the first person to see the resurrected Lord was a woman!!!!

It is a matter of authority in the Church, not personal value.

Gal 3:28 There cannot be Jew nor Greek, there is no slave nor freeman, there is no male and female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
Gal 3:29 And if you are of Christ, then you are a seed of Abraham, even heirs according to promise.

In Christianity, men and women are equal before God.

What do you mean when you say worth? In the slave market you would pay more for a young healthy man because he could do more work. Read about the worth of a virtuous woman in the Bible. They were rated very highly.

You might want to read a little bit more... And you'll notice that women play a major role in the Bible.

1.) Jesus' mom was a woman.
2.) The first people to see Jesus following his resurrection were women.
3.) Jesus clearly treats them as male equivalents, i.e., they are as sinful as men in his eyes.

because the bible, and most religious documents were written by men who had an objective in mind. to keep half the population in subjugation. If you give women thesame rights as men, they can and will vote down bad laws, and refuse to let their young sons fight in a leader's war.

The Bible was transcribed in a time when women were treated as lesser beings.
