this is for my science fair project. i was wondering how similar canola oil is to motor oil, because i want to use it as a replacement to motor oil, as it would be less dangerous

It's the common name for rapeseed oil.

Depends on your application. Like most biologicals, canola oil breaks down at elevated temperatures.

canola stands for CANadian Oil Low Acid and it just rape seed that was selected by its very low content of lucernic acid, which is toxic for human consumption. But because it has very low content of saturated fats, is very healthy for cooking.

I have never heard about canola oil for motors...however it is also used to produce bio diesel....try google on that and I'm sure a lot of info will jump...
