Killing for no reason is wrong.

However, there are circumstances where, I believe, killing is not wrong.

If someone comes into my home and tries to hurt my family, I believe that if I have to kill them, so be it. I would have regrets, but I would be doing what I feel is right, and necessary, to protect my loved ones.

When my husband goes out hunting to feed our family, I believe that there is nothing wrong with that. Yes, we could feed our family without going out and killing an animal ourselves... however an animal would still be killed. I see no difference between a company (Tyson [chicken], Lancaster [beef], etc.) killing an animal and us going out and bringing down our own supper. Really, us going out and bringing down a deer in our way seems more humane than some of the treatment that animals killed for slaughter receive. Killing an animal for the sake of a pelt or a rack is wrong... killing to feed our family is something completely different.

Lastly, I believe that capital punishment, justly given, is not wrong. Child molesters, for example... I would shed no tears over a convicted pedophile being put to death. Some crimes deserve swift and permanent resolution.

Killing is a morally challenging issue. Killing for the sake of killing is wrong. Killing for protection, survival and when serving justice is, in my belief, not wrong.

It would depend on the situation, of course.
If someone were attacking you, trying to cause you harm, and the only way to end it was to kill that person, then killing someone is OK; even good, because that person would never be able to harm someone else.

If you mean in terms of openly killing a populace as that's happened in the Bible, then following the orders of the Christian God made it okay in God's eyes.
The peoples God ordered killed were not following Him, and would have corrupted His followers.
There's a scenario I read about years ago, it probably was during the Crusades, thinking about it now.
A village was about to be destroyed, and the leader of the army was informed that there might be Christians who would be innocently killed.
The leader responded, "Kill them all, for God will know His own".
Harsh?, yes, but that's the penalties of war.

The Bible and our laws sets the rules on killing humans. However, all the debates I have been in, ruled out the use of the Bible and moral issues which pretty much leaves nothing to prove your point. I hope you know it is wrong. One way to determine what is right or wrong in any issue is to ask yourself if it's ok if someone does it to you. When you take it personally the answer is easier. Good luck in the debate IF you are on the side that it's wrong.

Ask the Abortion Rights Activists. they think it is. (Oh, yeah. A lot of them are vegetarians. perhaps they think killing is all right only if the person dieing is human.)
I, personally, think that killing is wrong unless the person you kil is either trying to kill you, or you can prove that that person will kil you in the future.
However you are talking about a debate, and in debates they tend to rule out religiuos or biblical reasons. Where does morality come from? religion! (Empathy is learned, not instinct) So you can't really back anything you say except by personal feelings.

I don't think it's okay but sometimes it's required. I'm in the military so I'm used to seeing killing, in some cases it is completely unwarrented and its wrong on every level. But in other instances I believe it is warrented, if someone is shooting at you or holding a gun to a 5 year old girls head, you shoot. It may not necessarily be completely moral but it is warrented. Killing for revenge, hatred, anger, for the hell of it is wrong and punishable by jail, killing as part of duty, to save your own life, to save someone else's life is wrong too but in the right situations there is no choice.

I kill monthly, a can of Raid kills many, a bottle of weed-be-gone.
every time I see a new mole hill my exhaust fumes are hosed into the borough. snail killer keep holes from being eaten in my plants. Grants Kills ants. that justifies killing of insects and rodent's.
Now the issue of killing animals, when in a kill or be killed situation, which is okay? as a matter of convenience humans kill thousands of chickens, cows, pigs and in some countries dogs, cats, horses, monkeys and many other animals for food. we justify that killing as survival needs. others kill animals for sport.
The taking of another human life could be justified for the same reasons. Fortunately in a civilized society, the taking of a human life beyond self defense is Immoral. In a war, the kill or be killed scenario, is fulfilled.

this is a very tough question even though it sounds simple. first of all what constitutes killing? is it murder? suicide? execution? there are many types of killing. even in the bible it says that there are times when ppl should be killed. i do believe that it is wrong to kill someone however there is a lot of grey areas. how about assisted suicide? these are all valid ideas for you to think about prior to your debate. goodluck on this project because it is more difficult than it seems.

No, its okay only if you are trying to defend yourself for eg if you kill someone who is trying to kill another person , its okay but again just of the insecurity you're not supposed to kill anyone

We kill animals and plants everyday to eat. Killing people is, apparently OK provided the Government says so. Self-defense makes it OK. In general I think it is the most despicable thing anyone can do.
