Just done that.... If you are from Mid NEC of NSW you will like the new Brighton/jindalee areas about 35km from the city an hour and abit in peak traffic, good boating/water life style, if you are more worried about education etc try the south of Perth about max. 20km out from the city, nice social lifestyle by the river (abit like the north shore of Sydney) directly north of the city is more like the bondi/beach areas (more for the younger 'party' crowd) as is the Freo areas, most of the new housing estates consist of young family's on an average income (good family areas), ie Atwell, beelier, ellenbrook, brighton etc.... stay clear of areas like omelia, kwinan etc they may be cheap but there is alot of industry and unemployment if you know what I mean. And if you have a high budget good family areas are applecross brentwood etc....now rent for a 3-4 bedroom house it goes from $200 to about $300 per week in the 'nice' family areas if you go away from the ocean/river and free ways you can get to around $160-220 PW the bigger problem is that there is abit of a rental problem/shortage here so you may find a place you like but 10 couples will be putting their applications in too best bet is up the rent $5 pw to put yourself in front of the crowd... there is a web address for rental looking (the best one for WA), feel free to hit me up with any other questions...have a good one....and good luck

I am in the Kwinana area and rent an 8 room house for 150 wk. You can find them ranging from 120 and up.. I love the area as I have a teenager and a toddler and there are heaps of children both their ages to hang out and do things with. There are parks not far off from the houses in all the areas..

I moved from Massachusetts, USA to the Kwinana area.. and by far... it's the best place in the world to raise children.. The area is mainly for the most part, quiet.
But there are things for the children to do and it's not all that far from Rocko, with Freo only 30 mins away.
