I have applied for financial aid but was wondering if there are any other resources available to help me with my tuition cost other than student loans. I keep finding web sites who want me to purchase this information, but I am leary of doing so.

Yes, there are thousands of scholarships and grants available from private companies and organizations out there. Many are listed on free listing websites. In addition, many college and university financial aid websites offer a list of private scholarships which require you to apply for them. Many of them are updated on a regular basis. I recommend applying before the deadline. Also, I recommend reviewing the website before writing the essay to get a feel for the organization and what they are looking for in a successful applicant. Good luck!

I qualified for a grant that was for adults over 25, who worked at least part time and went to college at least part time. I think it was called the Adult Part-Time Grant. It may have been a local thing, but you could ask at the college about that.

Check with the school that you are planning to attend/have been accepted to and see if they participate in the Pell Grant and/or similar programs. You may also want to check with your employer to see if they offer some type of tuition reimbursement programs.

On your income taxes, you'll see something called the "Hope Scholarship." Basically it sends you money back on your taxes, so it's not really a scholarship, but a tax credit.
