i know protestants detest this but i think it is because they don't understand it.

christ was 100% man and 100% divine. Christ is the second person of the holy trinity. God (the Son). thus since mary gave birth to him and raised him...this would make her the mother of God. not the mother of the Father...but of the Son (both God)

finally, my question. what is so blasphemosu about this????

I can't say that this is blasphemous -- your logic is fine.

One thing needs to be worked into the equation, and that is a bit of a paradox in that most Christians believe that Jesus had a pre-existence before his incarnation on earth. So Mary is the mother of the physical incarnation of Jesus as God.

People get upset because they don't know what to do with this theologically. Protestants have such a fear of Mary worship that they consign Mary to invisibility, yet she makes some strong theological statements that should not be ignored. Unfortunately, for the Protestant world, a balance has yet to be found where Mary can be talked about, respected, and have a place in Protestant theology without immediately leaping to the charge that any mention of her name suggests the idea of worshipping her as God.

I am Protestant, but I would love to see Mary recognized for the role she played in Scripture, as well as her spoken words in scripture which are words of power, wisdom, and courage.

Protestants protest idolatry or corruption in some Catholic churches.

The only thing to protest is sin. I don't have a problem Jesus being the Son of God, so is therefore God. I believe in Trinity. What I protest is the Apocryphal writings in the Catholic Cannon, & the false doctrine that Mary was of an emaculate conception herself. There is nothing in the Holy Bible to indicate that.

I don't consider myself a protestant. I consider my self a born again Christian (spirit filled). I will shine my light in the dark corners.

Your last question. There is nothing blasphemous about that. You just need to understand that it isn't so important what others may think of you so much. What matters is what God thinks. My God & Savior says it isn't blasphemous.

dartheric has the proof. I never notices that verse before (Luke 1:43) Thank you LORD.

rejoicing in..., Thanks for the info. Obviously there is some serious problems with the catechism about Mary. But Jesus Christ is Lord is the Son of God. Mary was filled with the Holy Spirit at the day of Penticost. She is a Saint. All saints / born again believers go to heaven when they die. She is the human mother of Jesus Christ. That is where Jesus (God) put on humanity. Her lineage goes back to the tribe of Juda (King, law giver & Shilo; lion of Juda), & Joseph (Good Shepherd, Stone of Israel).

Catholics have self belief that Mary must be honored no longer worshiped. Any Catholic worshiping Mary would not understand Catholicism! The Hail Mary is a prayer that in simple terms describes how the Lord chosen her to mom the Son. The latter area inquiring for her to 'pray for our sins' is by using the fact she grew to become into assumed into heaven (as in, did no longer die) so she could desire to be close with God. in fact, Catholics pray interior the path of the ineffective, to no longer the ineffective. every physique who extremely worships Mary isn't Catholic... playstation Catholics additionally call the Church 'mom' or the 'bride of Christ'.

Primarily because most prayers are to Mary (prayer beads). Further, there is a scripture stating, "There is no mediator other than me." Meaning "The Christ".. Then there is another indicating there is a throne on the right hand of God... guess who that belongs to? Then we can go to Genesis and find this one..."Let us make man in our image." Did you happen to pick up the plurality? There are 3 primary individuals mentioned in scripture... God, the Father, the Prince of Peace, and the King of Peace. All having no geneaology. Do you wish to attempt to unscramble all of this? It is so very plain, all you have to do is read. The Holy Ghost or spirit is God's gift to man.. to teach him all things, even those deeper things of God. All they have to do is listen and follow.

To complicate things for you a bit more, why would the prayer to the Father be given, when Jesus was on the cross?????????

I'm Protestant and think we make too much of a big deal about some of our differences. It also amuses me to think that many of the folks who have a problem with calling Mary the mother of God don't have a problem with a beautiful Christmas song, 'Mary Did You Know.' One of the lines is something like: "Mary, did you know...that when you kissed your little baby, you'd kissed the Face of God?" We Protestants don't generally have a problem with that, and I don't see much difference.

I am Baptist, but I never quite looked at it the way you just said. At the same time you are right, I also think that where most Protestants have a problem with it is because they don't think of Jesus when Catholics say, "mother of God".

Why doesn't the Catholic church say, "mother of Jesus" instead of "mother of God"? I am not condemning.....I am just curious

protestants think they're the only ones who have the path of salvation down right.

here's a joke that illustrates that:

a catholic, a jew and a buddhist all died and went to heaven. st peter was showing them around the place and they were really amazed by the streets of gold, the mansions waiting for them, getting to meet loved ones who'd gone on before. but then they came to a wall right in the middle of heaven and it had big signs posted all over it saying things like "QUIET! THIS IS A QUIET ZONE! NO NOISE ALLOWED!"

one of the group asked st peter what the wall was there for and why were all those signs posted all over it?

st peter sighed and said "Oh, that's the protestant section of Heaven. They think they're the only ones up here."

Nothing wrong with it.
For the Protestants that I know, Mary is revered as a very blessed woman. But we do not worship her, nor offer prayers to her as some religions do.

Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit, cried out in a loud voice and said, "...And how does this happen to me that the MOTHER OF MY LORD should come to me?" LK 1, 41-44 Biblically speaking, the Catholics are right on this one.

Jesus was Deity before Mary was ever born, therefore, she was the mother of the human Jesus, not the mother of God.
