I don't know, I think because so many people have so many ideas how it should be made, the type of meat, spices, with beans with out beans etc Some people put different things in it from a touch of chocolate and cinnamon (no kidding) to beer and tequila, all pretty good I am sure.

Well, I don't know about the emotional part of the equation but I do know that it "stirs" something else in the people that eat it....LOL! I know a lot of people that love the stuff and I only like it when my husband makes it. Lots of people must have some memory trying to recreate someone else's recipe and ended up substituting for other things...and for some people, weird things. Take care.

There are huge numbers of ways to make chili, and there are regional differences. Therefore there are competitions in chili making, and competitions stir up emotions.

because it's f'ing delicious !!! beans, meat, veggies and hot peppers. What's not to like ???
you can make it so many ways but, I'm partial to my own award winning recipe. ( amateur contests )
