I try to minimize church donations because most churches misuse the money.

In the Law, the Jews were required to pay a tithe (tax). Christians are not required to pay a tithe, but we do have New Testament examples of free will offerings to support the needy saints. We don't have any examples in the New Testament of people taking advantage of Christians to gain wealth.
This is an excellent reason why to do this! Malachi 3:10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.

I don't give to my church to get a tax deduction. I give because my God asks me to. If that was my reason for giving...Let's say I give $100. If I am in the 15% tax bracket then I will only get $15 back on my taxes. Not a good deal. I give not to recieve but to honor my Lord.

Tax deductability has nothing to do with the principle of tithing. Tithing is a part of the plan of God to finance the work of God. It results in the blessing of God. Offerings of course are free will gifts from the heart. Everything belongs to God anyhow, and He has just given it to us to use while we are here. If we greedy human beings can't give some back to God, to show our love and appreciation...shame on us. Christians should never give to get... including getting tax deductions. They shoud give becuase they love God.

I've never taken a deduction for it. I don't really think of it as charity, like clothes donations to Goodwill or money to the Humane Society. I give to the Church to show my support, not to get anything out of it.

The church has bills. The money for rent, electricity, and programs doesn't drop out of the sky or ins't provided from secret agency. So, yes, when we can give money, we do. We want others to be able to find the same caring, helpful community that we have. We want others to know God.

To this point in my life, I have not made enough to make it worth while to itemize my deductions. So, I don't give to the Church to get a tax deduction.

Yes I would. I don't care about tax deduction, but about obeying the word of my Lord...we are to tithe a certain amount as it is His due...I give more when I can and do it freely. He puts it to good use as He sees fit.

Of course! The bible commands tithing money to church. You just have to make sure that you aren't tithing to a false church like the ones that claim tithing will make you rich.

Yes. It is written that you give tithe of 1/3 of your earnings to God. It is to help the people that needed it. " Give and it will be given back. Full measure, shaken down."
