There are no dumb questions, that is how you learn. Yes it is very normal to feel that way, and yes you will miss them very much, but you will get over it. Time has a way of moving on and healing what hurts. Pretty soon you will be done and you can go home and visit or stay.
Make the most of it for it will be the best time of your life. Good Luck!!!!!!!!

I wouldn't worry too much or you'll make yourself sick. Of course, you will miss your family and friends, that is just normal. But, it is a part of growing up and seperating yourself from your parents. When in college you tend to become an adult and you establish a personal identity apart from your family. You will see your parents from time to time so it isn't a permanent seperation and you will also make new friends and you could keep in touch via email or phone with the old friends. Good luck with college girl and you'll do fine without your family right there with you.

I don't believe it's a dumb question in the least... Yes, you'll miss them, but you'll also make a new circle of friends as you open a new chapter of your life... Look forward... Your family and most of your hometown friends will be there when you come back for breaks in between semesters... Besides, they're in your heart - so they're never more than an email or phone call away, anyway...!

It is definately normal! Being separated from things that you have known for so long will always be difficult. But it's not permanent! I wish I would have gone away to college instead of staying in the same ole' city. Now is the time to take the opportunity to see new things and figure out yourself and what you want in the future. Sometimes when you step away from the ordinary you realize just what it is that you need to figure out. Good luck!

It's totally normal... I know I would have such a hard time being far away from my family and friends. I mean your family has been there your entire life so far, and you're probably really close to your friends. Trust me though, it's better to let someone you're not as close to take you to your college instead of someone you're really close to. Say your goodbye's to your family and closest friends at home, because it will make it easier when you're going. Good luck :)

Of course it will be hard. You just have to keep in close contact and be open to meeting a lot of new people. You need put yourself out there and socialize as much as possible - that is the point of college after all (oh, and the education)

I think this is very normal. Could you go to a school closer to home the first year or two? Its NOT a dumb question.

Nah, it is a perfectly normal fear. You will really miss them all, but you will make ALOT of new friends at college and build new relationships that will stick with you throught the rest of your life. It is really is an awesome experiance.

Kid, learn how to spell "college" before you worry about going there. And at 12, you should not even be concerned with college. You have many years of school left ahead of you BEFORE you should even be thinking about college.
