Well as long as its still nice outside (Im not sure what state youre in) have a park party. Let the kids do obstacale courses on the lawn and go down the slides and swing. My daughter loved her gymnastics party at that age.. but it wasnt very cheap.

A park is a good idea but the hunting and stuff wont go well with 4 year olds. I would try a swimming party at a local ywca. It it real cheap and then you dont have to do games or prizes. Then a couple pizzas and some juice a lil bit of cake its real easy my son is 3 and two of his parties where swiming and one was a park and the kids like swiming better. You could still do goodie bags, they usually have a little party room. and the ywca where I live decorates for ya.

A nature party, where you go to a park and play games and collect leaves and bugs and rocks. Kids love that stuff. Plus most of thie things you need are just ideas for games and activities. Nature is free.

You could do one in the park. I am assuming it's coming up. You could buy each kid a little bucket and buy a pack of colored sharpies. They come in a ton of colors now. And have each kid decorate his/her bucket. Have stickers there too for them. Then, do a scavenger hunt and you can go ahead of time and put some things like cotton balls, paper clips, etc within site and have them find things. Another thing you can have them do is find a really cool rock and each kid paint it like a bug. Acrylic paints are very cheap. About .69 cents a piece and they can add that to their buckets. You could make the invitations to cut down on costs by just making a bug outline on card stock and putting the information on the other side. You could add a cute name...Like BIRTHDAYS, BUGS, AND BUCKETS. To cut down on costs of paper plates etc. Buy just plain white ones. Add each kids name on them with sharpies and add bug stickers on the edges. You can be very creative and cut costs that way. Good luck.
