When we went to classes to train our dog, the instructor told us to stop the dog from barking you put a few pennies in an empty soda can. When they bark, you shake the can. They hate the sound. When our dog was in the back yard and barking all we had to do was pick up the can and she'd stop. Eventually she only barked when she was feeling threatened.

very common answer to this: get a shock collar.
i have a maltese, and he used to have the same problem. i felt a little cruel for having to do it, but it was very annoying. at first, they might think that it's just any ordinary collar, until it shocks them. then it'll be like that for a while. use that collar for abt a week. but don't keep the collar on the whole time. just whenevr they start barking, as a consequence, put it on for abt an hour. keep this routine going for abt 1 week, unless the barking persists, then u can lenghthen the time a few days more. but don't keep the routine going to a point that they don't bark at all anymore. you still want them to bark for security reasons, but this shud stop them barking from barking excessively abt unecessary things. good luck! :)

I have tried the squirt gun thing... it worked like a charm until my dog hunted it down and chewed it up :) I got a new one. it works.. I have also been told that if you take some screws and put them inside a tin can, tape up the top. when ever the dog barks throw it at the ground near the dog. The dog is supposed to associate barking with a loud scary noise. I was also told to reward the dog as soon as it stops barking.

You could try an electric shock collar on them. Whenever they start to bark, hit it with a shock. They'll soon discover that when they don't bark, they won't get shocked. It worked on my Australian Shepard. It should take about a week. And no, the shocks are not harmful to the dog. It's not enough voltage to injure them.

well i wouldnt really reccomend this, but ive seen at pet supplies stores they have bark collars. comes in all sizes. they sense when your dog is barking and it will give them a little shock, not so it hurts just so it startles them and they stop. i think after you use this for about a week then you could stop using it, and your dog wont notice its gone. and he wont bark. unless its something serious. thats just a thought though =] my golden retriever is a huge barker also. the neighbors even called us to complain about him... but theyre weird.

take a squirt bottle fill it with half water and half distilled white vinegar , next time they start yapping , you say no barking and give them a spray of the bottle , they learn pretty quick that the nasty taste of the vinegar being sprayed in there face and the barking are related , they will start to yap less and less . good luck ..........the vinegar doesnt harm them in any way and it really does work

Go here for an awesome dog training program http://OnlineDogTraining.enle.info/?Bzoz
Since it is obvious that you do not have a clue about obedience training, your services should be for free. You cannot train even an adult dog for 8 hours a day. About the most that can be done at any one time is 10 - 20 minutes and that is with an adult dog and not a puppy. The attention span on this baby is extremely short and training session should be no more than 10 minutes and twice a day. Additionally, there isn t going to be much learned if you will only be training for 5 days. Obedience training is cumulative and is done over a much longer period of at least several weeks to several months.
What you can charge is determined by your experience, reputation, and accomplishments and in a case like this, should also include guaranteed expectations. Just working with dogs over several years, is not the experience that is necessary to be a dog trainer. There are too many people who are putting that title to their name and fleecing the public. Don t be one of them.
