Judge the fruit. Sound simple and really it is. What we type here says a lot in just a few words. Even makes you wonder what people are like face to face?
It is not just gaming for points in this forum but also in life in general. Again judge the fruit. Actions speak louder than any words that will come out of the mouth. Saying that one is a Christian means nothing. Fact! Getting ready to step on toes here and piss off some people but it is true. We who claim the faith are so easy to point the finger of blame at everyone who we thing doesn't live up to the expectation that we can't live up to ourselves. We hold up a measuring stick to the rest of the world and never notice that we are guilty of the crimes we accuse others of.
Yes we believe that Gods loves us more because of it, when the truth be told, we are denying God with our very actions. We are first to call others names and damn them to Hells fire. We beat them over the head with the Bible and say accept Jesus or go to Hell. Then we do the same things that we have convicted others of doing.
Here is some real truth though, That is not the example of Christ, not the Christ that I have been learning about. No it is far from it. It is not what would Jesus do but what did Jesus do. That is the model for a Christian. Many will claim it but few will really follow it. Those that truly follow it you will know them by their actions and not their words. They will be like a match lite on the deck of a ship at night. In the blackness of night it can be seen for hundreds of miles. The difference will stand out.

Hard to say. Perhaps this is their evangelical outreach and they think they need only make a quick "plug" for the cause and then move on to the next needy soul (in other words, as you say, the more points, the more contacts, the more 'God's-good-graces' points)...maybe quick, superficial comments serve simply to reassure themselves that they do believe...
In all cases they fail to Love as Jesus would have them Love. I still do it sometimes too, sometimes to those I feel most deeply for but just am unable to Love in the totally selfless way I know I am called to. It's a real Fear problem for us.
Yet Love , the radical, earth shaking, life altering, transformational kind Jesus taught is the only thing that will truly scratch our itch. We need to learn this, live and breathe it and make it a part of our very beings.
I wonder if the problem is that we do not begin with self Love. Perhaps we must start here so we will know how to apply Love to others.

Perhaps it is because you continue to function on a totally intellectual level and they don't.. Faith in a higher being is not intellectually stimulated. There are much higher levels of the mind than intellect.. you happen to remain on the lowest level of the mind.. the only thing lower than intellect is emotional level. Human intelligence can be considered very limited, at best. Particularly when one considers the knowledge that was brought into Alexandria and then lost in the fire. Further, there continues to be found items dated nearly a million years ago, showing intelligence that supercedes the intelligence of today. Now why would the intellectuals of today be so intent on discrediting the past? Pride, egocentric, foolish?

Who cares about points? This is just one more way for myself and other Christains to witness, to spread the love of Jesus Christ and help try to win souls to Heaven. God loves all of us the same, Christains and sinners...He loves us all equally.
