My wisdom teeth are coming in. The teeth in front of each wisdom tooth are bad. In fact one had to be pulled and the wisdom tooth came down in its place. Since the other three teeth are bad that I have left should I just have those removed and let my wisdom teeth come in their place?

I'm 29 years old and have had no problems with my wisdom teeth till now. And its the one that comes in next to a broken tooth.

Since it worked for the one side, go ahead and do it for the other. Has your dentist made that recommendation to you? I would probably see what his opinion was.

Of course not! However, there are a fist-full of reasons why you sometimes do. There are those wisdom teeth that insist on coming in horizontally, for example, resulting in teeth that crowd towards the front of the mouth. This makes orthodonture much more difficult than it might otherwise be. I had to have all four wisdom teeth out for exactly this reason. This crowding obviously puts horizontal stress on the tooth (teeth....), and this stress can crack or break the tooth, and/or the filling inside. And, secondly, you have to decide just "who your dentist is"... meaning, is he or she the kind of person who could actually perform an unnecessary but billable procedure for their own benefit. I've seen that too. Get a second opinion is the rule, not the exception. Go to someone who gets recommended to you and see what they say, not telling them the first dentist's recommendation.

At your age, it is doubtful that the wisdom teeth will properly "replace" the second molars. If you are in the mood for experimentation, go ahead and get the second molars out and see what happens. Just be mentally prepared for the idea of getting braces to complete the replacement by putting the wisdom teeth in the proper position. Chances are the lowers will be tipped forward and not really very functional anyway...

It really depends on your teeth. I'd say, wait until you are around 14-17 and get a panoramic X-ray (X-ray for your teeth). Then your dentist can probably see if you need to have your wisdom teeth removed. For example, my lower left wisdom tooth was growing horizontally which forced my teeth to move horizontally and for the first time of my life, I needed braces.

What's so bad with wisdom teeth if they come in ok? I think most wisdom teeth that are taken out are just to make $$$ for the dentist...

Depends on the placement of the wisdom teeth. Mine weren't giving me any trouble but I could see on the x-ray that they would come in sideways when they were ready and would eventually cause a major problem. If they are coming in without any problems I'd just leave them. If you think your dentist is trying to screw you over, get a second opinion.

No need to pull what ain't hurtin' anything, seriously. Wisdom teeth can sometimes crowd the other teeth in your mouth and need to be pulled for that reason. As long as your mouth has room for them and they aren't bothering you, keep them.
I still have my lowers but the uppers were pulled due to crowding out (pushing forward) my other teeth.

there's no guarantee that the wisdom teeth are going to perfectly fill the space of your pulled teeth. I think wisdom theeth should only be pulled if they are causing you pain or moving your current teeth around as they push through.

i would say yes. if a tooth is bad it will probably leed to more decay and more problems. it wouldn't hurt to do it. and wisdom teeth only need to be pulled if thier is a problem or if its causing crowding. i'm not a dentist this is just from my own experience.

If you are not having any trouble with your wisdom teeth, then they dont pull them. Easy as that.
