A couple of years ago, the flavour of these biscuits changed, and they are no longer as sweet as they used to be. At the same time the colour of the wrapping changed froma deep red, to a pastel pink. Has anyone any idea why this has happened, and whether the original product can be found under another name?

I'm eating them right now and they seem the same. Also, the packaging is still really red to me. Are you sure you didn't pick up a different 'light' variety? That might account for the different packaging colour and also the less sweet taste?!

If not, sorry - I can't help any further.

Sorry but when I was a child the digestive had a distinct baked taste, then in one very short period of time, around the early '80s they lost the special flavour, but every so often there is one biscuit in a packet, with that special taste that takes me back to my childhood again. My taste buds have not been altered over the years, or else I would not recognise that taste. Mcvities definitely altered their recipe, for what ever reason, and I just crave for that really memorable biscuit. Come on Mcvities be honest, what did you remove, or add that changed your classic biscuit?

Where do you get your biscuits from? I still get them in the "deep red" packaging. You could also try Hovis Digestive biscuits. Have you ever had the McVities Tea biscuits? It comes in a blue packaging. They are a wee bit sweeter in taste. You may find them more to your liking. A little different in texture..but still good. Hope this helps!!

I bought some the other day, they were in a red packet and they were called McVities Digestives, maybe you stumbled on a packet with reduced salt and or sugar.

I think you're eating the 'light' ones - look for the normal ones. they are still the same to me. I always dunk them anyway so they always taste the same!
