Once dogs start "doing it", it seems almost as if the male dog is "stuck" to the female dog. This happens because the male dog becomes enlarged when it is inside of the female dog and this causes them to get stuck together. When this happens the male dog tends to turn around while still stuck to the female dog, but the dogs will be looking in opposite directions. Sometimes they stay in this awkward and uncomfortable position for half an hour. This may be nature's way of ensuring pregnancy.

Yes, it's normal. It's called a "tie" Dogs are different than people, (in case you haven't noticed.) During mating the males penis swells - not like people - like a light bulb. He's literally stuck and cannot move until orgasm..Trying to separate them will injure both dogs. Unless your friend was trying to breed them (and apparently she doesn't know enough to do this) why was the female, in heat, allowed around the male?

Yeah, it is. My teacher explained it once in a science class. The female 'clamps' on to the male to ensure she gets pregnant. I guess that's the best way to put it, but it's normal.

Yes...The male is stuck to the female for a while...I'm not sure why but I read you will do permananent damage to both dogs if you try to separate them.

Yes, it's normal, has something to do with the baculum bone in the male's penis enlarging. Nature will take it's course.
