It's much better than nothing, but Muslims will always remember what he said and appeared to believe, based on what he said. I read the EXACT full quotes; there is no doubt that he was saying that Islam is evil. None. So the only question left for Muslims is whether or not something caused him to change his mind about Islam. All he appears sorry for is offending people. He has a right to his opinion. But now everyone knows what it is and there is no way peace-loving Muslims will ever trust him unless there is a serious retraction from this horrendous and inaccurate attack on the religion of Islam.

Probably not. What he said is basically the truth and the manner of the reaction that his statements received only proves it. It's like telling someone that they have a problem because they are always shouting and they reply, shouting, "I do no".

Whatever claims are made about Islam are one thing. The actual way that people promote the religion is usually another and that applies to all religions. Islam, or the practices of its followers, is proving itself to be an ideology that teaches intolerance, violence, fear of change, and discrimination against women and the socalled infidels.

It would be easy to criticise past or present behavior of both Jews and Christians as they also have their moments of hysteria and extreme brutality. But at the moment it is Islam that is the focus and the source of so much terror.

Wear your anger well inside
for all the world to see
A heavy cloak a one glove tan
And no humility
You stand inside the garden
And feast on black cherries
And swallow the mana from heaven
and spit out the seeds
You spread your anger and sharp edge knife
Cut my skin and make it bleed
Black pollen in its self-righteousness
You are a traitor and a thief
Choking on your unplanned words
Coughing up your lies
Tumbling from your mouth
A flurry of broken butterflies
Broken butterflies
they rest their wings snapped in two
On their way to certain death
Their colors gold and blue
With the blood that flows I can not hide
The blood covers me
Nourishes the butterflies and they are healed and are set free
I wish you had what Ruth possessed
Then I don’t expect that of you
Grace and honor and faithfulness
And a love that you refused
Will you ever learn to just forgive
Will you open your beautiful eyes
And bleed the way Christ did
And fix the broken butterflies
LW

or we will soon we all be blind and toothless!..lol

No. If the Pope had said nothing to begin with, the radicals would have found some other pretext to riot, shoot a nun and burn churches. The Pope's regret is misplaced and likely ineffectual. Those responsible for the violence are the ones who should be apologizing.

NO!

It doesn't take much to spark a furor in parts of the Muslim world. Offensive cartoons in a Danish newspaper. Rumors that a Quran was flushed down a toilet in the prison camp at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. And, now, remarks by Pope Benedict XVI.

Depends. Did he go on tv and say this - IN PERSON - or did someone READ A STATEMENT that could have been made by anyone? This is nothing but a PR moment where the catholic BUSINESS is trying to do a spin on an embarrising moment. Suprise; they are very rich, there is NOTHING people of the islam faith can do about what this man says or does.

Among some - those with reasonable minds will say "Okay, you didn't mean, apology accepted." And really, read the speech. It's boring and has next to nothing to do with Islam, outside of the one passage.

The ones who hold on to this anger are the ones who are spoiling for a fight. Everyone else is just moving on with it.

Obviously you have not heard about the nun being shot in the head 4 times. Diffuse it.....no, they did not even accept it. Once again, proving the point he made in the first place. Islam is a nation breeding hatred and fostering it from youth. The Qu'ran states it's violent intent many times. You can look it up on world wide web for yourself. Anyone who doesn't believe the hatred they are taught by their Prophet is confused or just seriously snowed.

Probably stir it up further. It rather looks as though we have a Bush of a Pope to contend w. until his final call up papers come through.

It will for most Muslims but the ones who are causing the ruckus are not rational and nothing will defuse it for them. They are only looking for an excuse for their actions.
