If you and your to-be spouse are both avid football fan, then you could go all out with the reception hall? Are you thinking the ceremony as well? If you want low-key theme, maybe make the hall decorations the team colours. And then have a grooms cake along side the other cake done in your football theme. A football field. All sorts of possibilities. And commonly done. If you're thinking of going all out as in it's a really really big deal for both of you and most of your guests, then maybe decorate the hall like a football field or part of a field? Are the wedding attendants wearing team jerseys? I don't know anything about football, but those are just some ideas. For more theme party ideas, you can check this site out- there are in fact a lot of kids party ideas on there but there is also an adult section, and even if you check out the football ideas for kids, you may still find some ideas to draw from or modify for your wedding! As for cakes, there are lots of professional wedding cake decorators who do unique/untraditional cakes, you can find them online and look at their galleries for ideas to pass on to your own caterer/decorator. Good luck and congrats!

have the ring bearer carry the rings on a pillow made to look like a football.
if you are writing your own vows, find a way to incorporate football terminology into it.
with the flowers either have them in the colors of your favorite team & tied with a ribbon with footballs on it, and maybe a little football charm; OR have them arranged so that they look like a football. (brown & white flowers)
find football confetti, and have the flower girl drop that along with flower petals down the aisle, or put it in little packets for the guests to throw instead of rice as you are leaving the ceremony.
when people are being seated have the ushers ask them if they are on the "offensive or defensive" side. (instead of the bride and groom's side)
decorate the aisle with football field markings
if you're having a program, use football terminology. for example you could say something like your father is passing you to your husband to be who is the intended receiver.
have cheerleader inspired bridesmaid dresses, and football player inspired tuxes. you could even go so far as to have pompoms made for the bridesmaids to carry instead of flowers. and i know groomsmen don't usually carry anything, but maybe they could carry footballs.
instead of a guest book for people to sign when they arrive, have a couple of footballs for them to sign when they get there.
that's all i got for now, if i think of anything else, i'll add to it.
good luck!!

You could have the flowers either shaped like football themes or maybe add football accents to the flowers. Also, maybe instead of a runner or something, you could have the ground themed in the white paint with the yard markers or something.

Have the guys dress as football players, the women dess as cheerleaders, and the minister dress as a referee. you could have someone on a mic calling the play-by-play. have the isle way like the field, with all the yards. and make the alter the area the end zone, with a goal line where youall get hithed.

You should run down the aisle with your father back to throw you a pass. as you catch it, your fiancee can then tackle you but only too late as you slide past the goal line dragging him behind you as the preacher pronounces you man and wife.
Would be a dang good show but why would you want to have football at your wedding???

There are people starving all over the world, and you're having a football wedding. Email me the final price of the wedding, and I'll let you know how many of the 30,000 children who die everyday in the world due to hunger and preventable disease you could have saved.
You might want to dress the pastor as a referee, if you can find a pastor who's enough of a pimp to do it.
