As a "dead man," how am I capable of choosing to accept Christ as my Savior?

For by Grace we are saved through faith, and that not of ourselves, it is the gift of God.

So God is the one who grants us salvation? There is nothing I can do to come to Jesus? I can't make the decision? God has to?

11In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. 12Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. 13Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness. 14For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace.

When it says that we are saved "that not of ourselves," it means that we can't work for our salvation. We cannot gain the gift of God by ourselves through good works. It is through FAITH that gives us that intimacy with Jesus Christ. Whatever sins and wrongdoings you have made in the past will be forgiven and washed away through Christ's blood. The word of God says that we can ask for forgiveness, repent of our sins, and turn our back on them, God will forgive us.

For by Grace we are saved through faith, and that not of ourselves, it is the gift of God.

It's up to you whether you accept the gift or not. Jesus died on the cross and paid the price for your sins. If you turn from your sins and accept the gift of eternal life through Jesus you will not die in your sins but the bible promises eternal life.

If you have broken Gods law (lied, stolen etc) you are guilty in Gods eyes and because He is a just God he will deal with people in justice and punish sin. You can pay the price for your sin or let Jesus pay it for you. This is what God did for us in his compassion. He knew we were not perfect and could not keep his law all the time so he made a way for us to be reconciled to Him through Christ.

His is a Good God which means he naturally has justice. Just like a good Judge will lock away a murderer or theif. There is always a penalty for sin. Someone always suffers the consequences of sin.

The gift was the sacrifice that Christ made for all the sins of people past present and future. Everyone is "dead in their trespasses" even born again Christians, we are just forgiven not perfect. You absolutely have the choice to follow Christ or not, God just made provisions for us if we choose to be saved.

If you are even thinking of being saved that is the lord coming upon your heart and asking you to walk with him! That's the Holy Spirit, when you even want to be saved. So he has come to you if you really want to be saved. Being dead in your sins and trespasses means you are a new creation. The old has gone and the new has come. 2 Corinthians 5:17.
You are dead to your old ways and born in the life of Christ. Born again.

Jesus died on the cross so that we could come to the Father and be forgiven. Right now ask God to wash your sins in the precious blood that Jesus shed on the Cross. Pray this believing and it will be. May God Bless You and make you a Beacon to other people that thought that there was not hope.

Yes God grants that salvation but only to those that seek him out to do as he has told them to do for many generations. so long as you do not get a tesimiony then flat out say in your heart that thier is no God then you still have a chance to be able to let him into your heart, so that you can return to him some day

grace saves us, yes. but we have to hear the word first. then we have to have faith in the bible (Hebrews 11:6) to please God. we have to repent of our sins (Acts 2:38). then we have to confess our sins to God and to ourselves (its also better to make it known to members of Christ). and you also need to be baptized for the remission of your sins, so your sins will be forgiven from you. God bless you as you try to search for Him. (btw, where do you live, i can help you find a local church that will help you in your search for God!) good luck!

They let people like you in, from the back entrance. You wouldn't want to piss off all of the do gooders coming through the front.
