I just bought a new curling iron yesterday, and it says for all hair lengths and types. I'll let it sit for around 5 minutes on high, but it only curls my hair a little bit. I have a thicker textured hair. What can I do to make it so my hair curls better?

well, work some gel through your hair before you curl it, and get a strong-hold hairspray. personally though i think that curling irons are a huge waste of time. if you want luxurious ringlets it would be easier to pin-curl it, and the curls come out way better. okay im definitely tired of typing the word curl. good luck!

You may need a curling iron that gets super hot. Often you have to buy a professional model to get the temps you need for problem hair. There are some that you can buy that are gold or ceramic plated that get very hot.

Also, try putting a little product in your hair (spray gel, mousse, pomade, texturing creme, etc) before you curl to help maintain the look.

Let it heat up longer. And only curl small pieces of hair at a time expecially since yours is thicker.

Thick textured hair:
Recommendation is to part out smaller sections of hair and curl.

Well I have the same problem. I take smaller pieces of hair instead of larger pieces. Also, instead of culring your hair reguraly, try warpiing it around the curling hair first, I can almost gaurantee that will make your hair MUCH more curlier.
