No. I believe they are very sincere people. They truly believe what they are told.
They are just fed a lie. and repeat it.

No.
Jehovah's Witnesses tend to be quite genuine; they act from love of god and love of neighbor.
A more common misconception is that Jehovah's Witnesses go from door-to-door because they feel it is their duty to get a householder to "change his mind". In fact, Jehovah's Witnesses would go from door-to-door even if there were no hope that anyone would change their religion, or even if no one would listen to them!
That is because Jesus Christ specifically assigned the house-to-house ministry to the Christian congregation, with no regard for specific results.
(Luke 10:1,2) After these things the Lord designated seventy others and sent them forth by twos in advance of him into every city and place to which he himself was going to come. 2 Then he began to say to them: “The harvest, indeed, is great, but the workers are few. Therefore beg the Master of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest.
Jehovah's Witnesses are trained to direct attention to the bible, and move on when their message is unwanted. Since each congregation in the United States tries to call at every home in its territory at least twice each year, there is strong motivation for them to move on where little interest is shown. Also, the Scriptures help the Witnesses to expect little interest from most:
(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching ...and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.

Just like any other religion, some are fakes and some truly believe the stuff they read and that is preached to them.
Jehovah's have a very different religion though, as do Mormons, and they are also the 2 main religions with the missionary's everywhere, so they tend to draw more criticism for those reasons alone.

Most Jehovahs Witnesses, also called JW's are just ordinary people who have been deceived into believing in a cult which is not Biblically based. They are often sincere intellectual analytical people who want answers to life. Sad to say, all they end up with is working out their faith by going door to door trying to decieve other people. They do not believe in the Trinity. They do not belive that Jesus is the Son of God...but an arch angel, Michael. The Jesus the Bible speaks of is the Son of God, who died and shed his blood for my sin. The bible tells us in Hebrews 1:4 that Jesus is greater than angels. They tend to twist scripture to their own end, refusing to listen to greek scholars about their bad translation s of the scripture. Most people become innocent victims of cults like these.

I happen to view religion as a business.
And in order to survive in business, you have to bring in money. To do that, you need to attract people to your store so that you can sell them a product. In the case of religion, the store is the church building and the product can be in the form of entertainment (the sermon), a meal (church supper), an opportunity to socialize (church social), etc., etc.
But any enterprising business person will expand his efforts to bring in revenue. He will use the mail (church flyers), or do some cold calling (sending church members to knock on doors). What the cold callers are selling is not a product, but a concept (religion). If they can get you interested enough in the concept, you'll come to the church (the store) where a sales transaction can be made. The sales transactions are many. You can make a donation, buy a church social ticket, etc., etc.
The important thing is to get everyone to contribute to the business as much as possible. The ideal church member gives not only money, but also time and effort. Money is of value because it increases revenue. Time and effort are of value because they help bring in new people to contribute to the business.
It's a great little business because you don't have to pay labor, nor do you have to pay taxes. No one who is part of the business questions why they are contributing money, time, and effort. They just think they are doing a great thing, and that they represent what truly good people should be like.
It's the perfect business, and many people (even some who know it's also the perfect con) go for it just to have something to do.

People in the Jehovah's Witness cult are very sincere.
Personally, I think they are sincerely deceived.
From the 1800's, history shows the JW organization to be a group that represents false prophets, having predicted (with dates) the end of the world on at least two occasions.

It is wrong to denigrate ANYONES faith. As a long time student of comparative religion I can tell you that NO religion or sect on earth has ALL the facts. The intelligent thing to do would be to seek out the answers on our own, and ~never-ever-NEVER~ take anyones word as the final answer. That means the "church" as well. Every important spiritual leader in recorded history say's the exact same thing, seek and you will find the answers! Jesus said seek even among children. It is a serious mistake to assume your particular religion is more "right" than all others. It would be a waste of time to launch into any kind of discourse concerning religion, any religion, but suffice it to say I am studied enough that ministers and priests of many religions are part of my inner circle. The laws of the supreme God are written in every mans heart, but the most difficult of all disciplines is to learn ones own heart. Every church has it's own methods of teaching the "mysteries" (spoken of by Jesus) and there is no such thing as the exclusive Christian mysteries, and Muslim mysteries, and Hindu mysteries, and etc etc. The mysteries are those of the supreme God of creation and they are same for every creature in existence. It is a crime against mankind to claim exclusivity. Be still and listen, and you will become aware of the force that moves within you. That force is a tiny spark of the one great God that moves within all living things.

They are certainly a group unto their self's are they not?
I once had a friend that belonged to that particular cult, yes I said cult. Save the hate mail, you wont like the response that you get back.
Her husband beat her like it was the right thing to do. He broke her wrist on at least 2 occasions during these beatings. He blackened both of her eyes, the cycle of abuse was unreal. She went to someone in the "church" and reported him and they basically told her to live with it, she was cautioned about bringing the police into it.
She became pregnant and at 4 months he beat her so badly that she actually lost the baby. Again she was cautioned about leaving or going to the police, she left and went to stay at my house and filed for a divorce. The next thing she knew the whole cult including her parents had turned their backs to her, trust me that was a true blessing. She also went to the police and had him arrested as well as her father for molesting her years before.
They preach their word, one that comes in may volumes that the member must buy. To someone with a stable mind and no need to have the feeling of acceptance, to someone who is secure within themselves and has self esteem, they can see this group for what they are. Jim Jones followers without the grape coolaide.

I believe they are sincere, but misled. There are some good aspects to what they believe, but the overall doctrine is flawed. It's a shame that they believe some of the teachings, but they have the right to believe as they choose in this country.

If they are truly practicing their faith when they come knocking on the door then no they are not fake and they are not liars. However in all religions you will find mortally flawed man who will use a religion for their own gain.
