If I was planning on quitting,I would say, "Sir or Miss, It's been a pleasure working for this company, and I have good and bad news. The good news is I won the lottery and the bad news is that I'm giving you my one week notice so that I can enjoy my winnings. I've really enjoyed working for you! Or I won a substantial amount of money on the lottery and would like to take a leave of absence to enjoy my winnings!

1. Regrettably, I must leave this position.

2. I have won a huge lottery.

3. With job shortages being what they are, my vacating will give someone else a much desired opportunity to take this challenging position, and work with some of the most intellegent people in the field.

4. It would be rather selfish of me to stay, don't you think?

I work part time at a job I love now, so I wouldn't say anything to the boss. I would ask to work fewer days per week and then I would take more exotic vacations. You know, like fly to Paris for the weekend or take a cruise to Hawaii when I have several days in a row off.

I would tell her I won the lottery! I want to to continue working- for retirement benefits.

Then, I would arrange with her to donate some of my winnings. I work in a public library and the library can always use money. I would probably donate money towards employee salaries and benefits. We earn well below what other library staff in the area earn. I think my donation would help out the staff tremendously.

I'd wait until the first time I was ripped because I didn't meet a deadline or something, the I would interrupt what ever he was saying to call a cab on my company cell (all the while giving him the "just wait a minute finger in the air). Then I'd say "Bl%w Me Beeyatch", throw my office and vehicle keys at him and walk out.

I don't work but my husband has his plan for if and when we win the lottery, he says he would go into work really late smoking a big fat cigar and speaking on his mobile, chuck his uniform on his bosses desk, stub out his cigar in his bosses coffee and tell him exactly what he can do with his miserable job and himself, my husband is far too polite, I know exactly what I would love to say to his boss and mine is totally unprintable too.

I won't let him know about the lottery win. I will keep it a secret from everyone. Don't want people robbing me or leeching on to me.

I'll tell the boss I've got another job.

I wouldn't even tell him or anyone else for that matter. If I gave him any reason for leaving I would probably say that I got a "better opportunity" In fact, upon my departure I would give him a VERY NICE and EXPENSIVE gift for being such a good boss. And if I REALLY wanted to rub it in I would tell him that I used part of my signing bonus at the new company to pay for it.

I would not say a thing; I would put in a two notice, request two weeks leave, clear my desk, return my badges to human resource, send an out of office message stating that I would not be return and to refer all inquiry to my boss, and put the same message on my voice mail.

Never, burn bridges no matter what.
