I guess since you are on this particular forum I should give you the standard religious answer. Pray, my child and it shall be done. Perhaps diet and exercise would be a great place to start. I had to have bypass surgery for mine but I would not recommend it to just anyone. There are some real dangers in that. I hope you can find something that works for you...I know how it feels to be heavy.

Slow down on fast foods. You don't have to go cold turkey, but limit them to 2x a month.
Switch all your home cooking oils from hydrogenated soy and vegetable fats (like crisco) to good oils like virgin olive oil, grapeseed oil, and palm fruit oil.
Try to eat green everyday. They are cheap and easy when you consider a ready and cleaned bag of spinach or mixed country greens (serving 4) costs about $1.50 a bag. Stir fry these to mild doneness in one of the afrorementioned oils, with a bit of minced garlic, pepper and salt. Perfect vitamin rich accompanyment to any meal.
Try dried fruit for a quick snack instead of chips or crackers.
Fish like wild tilapia, orange roughy, and perch are low-fat and easy to prepare. Pair them with tossed salad, brown rice or cous cous for a delicious and complete meal.
30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise once daily. This can be a simple casual walk about 2 blocks.
Drink more water. Aim for at least 1 liter a day. (1/2 a soda bottle)
Look into a good quality multi vitamin.
Cook with lots of garlic and onions.
Find a work out buddy and partner up for fitness and exercise.
These things are a healthy start.
Best of luck. I do these myself.

Eat no more than 12 ounces of food , and eat it at 3 hour intrevals..No sugar, no alcohol...exercise regularly...the only real way to lose weight is to cut calories..if you are going to exercisae you want lots of protein, and you dont need to get that from animals...peanut butter, beans, saldas, fruits...etc are an excellent source of protein
water...water...water

I found weight watchers to be really effective. Especially if you go to the meeting and they cater for men as well. Its slow and steady weight loss but it does come off and you can still eat so youre not hungry

This may sound odd by somtimes i loose weight by not trying too . Maybe it has somthing to do with tricking your brain to beleive that you are interested in loosing weight.
Here is what i was also told . Eat less , walk more.
