....no idea why it happens but it just does....could never understand violent people, never will...must be something going on in their tiny minds

We "learn" what is "normal for families" in the family we grow up in.

If there is violence in that family, the children learn that violence is normal.

The children will take that violence into their relationships, marriage, and family.

So it gets passed down to each succeeding generation.

There are also negative chains of:
incest
drunkenness
drug abuse
criminal behavior
welfare dependence

Likewise there are positive chains within families, such as:
Thanksgiving celebrations
Christmas celebrations
gratitude
family time
good communication

You can break the negative chain passed to you by your family by replacing it with a positive chain. It takes work and a commitment to "not be like them" but it gives your offspring a better life.

a chain of violence is when your grandmother was used to getting beat on, then your mother followed that pattern, then maybe your sister did as well. U make sure that u break that chain, and don't let it continue. Good luck!

The chain is when it's passed down form generation to generation. It happens, because it's all the person knows. It's not good , and it's hard to stop. And it takes a big mind to stop it.
