"AIDS (a result of HIV infection) is caused by a virus (HIV). There are no known cases of saliva by itself spreading HIV (the virus that causes AIDS). However, because there could be a risk of blood contact during prolonged open-mouth kissing, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends against doing this with a partner who has HIV.

....The possibility that saliva can spread HIV is considered only theoretical because --
* Saliva contains proteins that reduce the ability of HIV to infect cells.
* Researchers very rarely are able to isolate HIV in saliva.
* There are only small amounts of HIV in the saliva of people with HIV, even in the saliva of people with bleeding gums or sores in the mouth. However, there have been extremely rare cases of transmission by severe human bites, in which the HIV-positive person’s saliva contained visible blood." (American Red Cross)

Saliva is the least possible way for someone to acquire aids. The first being through blood (example is open wound to open wound contact) and the second being through semen and other sexual fluids.

So, yes, it is relatively safe. Just make sure there aren't any open wounds. It always depends on what type of kiss. AIDS shouldn't be the basis for kissing or loving someone. They're already sick and might be gone pretty soon, why not show them a little love?

I have only ever heard of one person (in the news) getting the virus from kissing. They and the person they were kissing both had open sores from very bad dental problems and that seemed to be the reason it was transmitted. This was a year or so ago and it made the papers because no one else had ever gotten it from kissing.

So, yes, you are very safe kissing.

yes you can I think the way someone explained it to me is even if you have a sore in your mouth and the other person does too you would have to swallow like a gallon of there saliva to get the virus. Disgusting but what are the odds you are going to swap that much spit? slim I hope

yes you can but make sue the person do not have open sores in their mouth, and you neither. only way can be transmitted is through transfermation of body fluids, and you would need tons of salivia to be infected, i am a medical assistant.
