What are things that you would add to your registry? Is it just towels and dishes? And can you add things for children on to it, or things for your yard? How many registries did you/ are you signed up for? And finally- how long in advance do you register?

I am thinking about Target, Pier 1, Bed Bath and Beyond for possible regisries. My gf registered at Wal Mart and pretty much everyone shopped from that list and avoided her higher priced registry. She got most of everything- would you rgister there? Also- for a child i was meaning like a memorable thing from the wedding (if they are in the bridal party). Not diapers or anything...lol

Here is a guide for a registry... it's a checklist that you can use as an idea for what you could/should consider registering for:

As far as putting items on there for children, I have seen (on wedding website forums) where other brides have done this. Personally, I'm not a fan of it but I think a bride/groom could register for anything they want. It's up the guests what they end up receiving anyhow. But I would not buy a gift for a child. It's not because I don't think children should get anything! I just want to buy a gift that is special for the bride & groom. After all, you probably give up things and sacrifice for your children already! :) Why not make this one about you!

As for the yard, yes... you can register at a place like home depot, lowes or sears. You can register for all kinds of things from power tools to rakes and shovels! A pretty cool idea considering everyone with a yard needs these things (and they can add up really quickly).

I don't know how many registries I will have. I don't really want to register, actually, but I'm getting pressure to do so. So I will probably register at three stores... perhaps Target, Kohls & Crate & Barrel. Three popular US stores and lots of price ranges are involved there.

Lastly - I will register in January for a September 07 wedding. However, I know many people that register as much as a year or more in advance. The only problem with doing that is that you must be very careful with choosing seasonal items. Things change at stores so quickly that when you register it may be available, but when it's time for people to buy off of it as it gets closer to the wedding, items are no longer available and that is frustrating!

Sorry for the long post!!!

You absolutely should NOT register for children's items on a wedding registry. However, you CAN register for things the whole family plans to use together. Yard stuff would be fine.

Although you are allowed to register anytime between when you get engaged and the time of the wedding, if you register more than 5 months or so before the wedding, there is a huge chance the things you choose will get discontinued during your engagement, and you end up with half a set of something.

Keep your registry modest and only sign up for a few things that you really need for your new life together. Long registries make couples look greedy and tacky. You can have 2 or 3 if you really must, due to what stores items are offered from.

Are you in fact a "mom of three"? If so, there is even more reason to keep your registries short and simple-- three reasons actually-- people do not usually give gifts for a second wedding, second time brides do not have showers, and, most importantly, becuase you've already set up housekeeping for a family. (Of course, I'm sure you're not just getting married for the gifts, so these 3 realities shoud not disappoint you!)

You should by your child something memorable from the wedding, not add it to your gift registry. Register where you like the stuff. Walmart doesn't have good pots and pans, but their towels and bath stuff are ok. Target is a good choice, none of the stores you mentioned are too expensive, so I think you're fine.

We registered about a month and a half before we sent out our invitations. We were registered at Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, & Target. That way for people with lower budgets and stuff, and people out of town who wanted to send gift cards, there was a store near them. We registered for everything and anything we wanted. We were just starting out so we needed everything. There was some more expensive stuff that we really didn'tthink anyone would have gotten us, but we were really surprised by a few of the more expensive things we got. (One of which was a really pricey down comforter). It really depends on what you need. If you mostly have what you need, look into some cool gadgets you'd like to have. Or if some of your stuff is wearing out, you can look for new stuff. You can also register for people to pay for parts of your honeymoon.

Good luck.

Why not add your children to the registry? I think it would be nice for the kids to be a part of every aspect of the wedding as possible. You need to include everything that you want people to buy that will be useful in your marriage. As far as were to register you should ask your closest friends what their favorite stores are. And I did mine 6 months in advance.

Register at more than 1 store. Lexus is a good one! (just kidding) Register at one medium priced store like Penneys or Sears. Also register at a lower-end store like Target. Yes, do ask for yard equipment, shower massages, etc. People will buy gift cards for stores like Home Depot - that is really handy.

ask your family and friends what's socially correct in your circle

since you have children, you probably don't need help setting up your household (which many wedding gifts are intended to do)

why not just say right out that you want theme gifts?
for the children
or, the yard

It would be extremely horrible and tacky to register for children's things - what are you thinking???
