Gawd, no! Don't do that! That's AWFUL...don't consider it for a second.
No, it will NOT work, will cause major other problems, and is wrong wrong WRONG!
Call the vet and they'll give you a topical treatment that will work and will be safe.

back "in the day", people had remedies for almost each little thing. I even have not heard approximately motor oil for mange. i do no longer know if it may paintings. All i know, is that my dogs had sarcoptic mites and had to be dealt with on the vet. in fact, he stayed on the puppy clinical institution for 2 days because of the fact of it. i does no longer dare rub motor oil over my dogs, or something for that rely, real or no longer. The animal probably has open sores and the "liquid" could produce an unfavourable consequence.

I cannot comment on the motor oil for mange but i have had experiance with the mange on dogs. The thing i found that worked out of all the vet treatments we tryed and spent so much money was a product you can purchase off the net its call NU Stock. It works wonders and it is cheap and works fast.
Cured a dog with demodex generlized and he was 3yrs old and had it since he was a pup. its like 11 bucks a jar and i mean it works.

Well that old remedy is not good on your dog. There are plenty of dips out there that will cure mange. The oil tends to clog the pores of the skin, and if you live where it is very warm, the dog can die of a heat stroke quickly, since it will not have the ability to stay cool with the oil on it.

Dogs can easily absorb toxins through their skin( Motor Oil is toxic) Why not just get some proper medication from the Vet?

Absolutely do not put anything on your dog that is not meant for pet use. Get Tar shampoo for dogs and get the dog checked by a vet or at least call some and ask about treatments.

I tried that remedy and it really doesn't work as well as some say Besides bieng carcinoginic to the pet and it's skin It almost makes it impossible for the pet to grow hair back.
However I will tell you that I used Black walnut peels to make a salve. It included black walnut oil ( I got the oil from House of hezekiah in westport ( there are other sources)), and Vitamin E oil (Same source).
Good Luck;
William Haynes
P.S. ; I am an A.S.E. certified auto Tech. trust me you don't want to use oil on your pet besides the Mess (the pet will run and roll and rub against everthing (HUGE MESS)).

Please DO NOT use that remedy on your dog. Pets will lick the oil and can become very sick. There are mange dips that are mixed with water. They are available on line and at your vet. You vet is the only one who can decide which type of mange your pet has. Please remember to treat pets bedding and sleeping area.

That is an old wives tale and does not work, it is extremely hazardous to the health of your dog.
What type of mange does your dog have? That would dictate your treatment options.
