i have a well lit living room an watch a lot of action movies an sports(racing, football). Does either perform better then the other when it comes to fast action? Thanks to all how answered my 1st question

with the fast response times found in most lcd tv's now i would recommend lcd... if your room is well lit you may find that the plasma screens will show alot of glare from your background light. also because you watch alot of sports beware that the ticker found on most sports channels can cause some image burn on your plasma screen.

It used to be that LCD had slower response time than plasma, and therefore was not as good for sports and fast action. However, they have been significantly improved, especially in the Sony SXRD projector, so that a the present time neither has an advantage in that area.

plasma used to be better but no much different now, go and get the one that you can control the panel's backlight (SONY has it, no sure about others), just set to higher when in a bright room.
