It is an artificial term used to describe the concept that there are people out there whose personality is so much like yours that you practically seem to be the same person.

At least one dating agency said that about 1 in every 200 people are your soul-mate. I do not know how they defined "soul-mate", or how they can up with that number.

Those are not easy questions; it's like trying to describe the taste of a food to someone who has never tried it before. My soulmate is the other half of me, the only person more important than me, and the first thought I have every morning. It sounds corny, but I would jump in front of a bullet for him without any hesitation. The thought of living the rest of my life without him has the tendency to make me hyperventilate, and it has become a subject I NEVER think about. Soulmates go beyond friendship, so I cannot imagine being anything but a couple, as no one will ever be even close to knowing everything about me but him. I have spent hours telling him about a stupid little memory from my childhood I had just remembered, and to him it is always something worth cherishing. We never fight, although I think that is very rare. We are too wise to let anything go so far as to fight about it, and we can sit for an entire evening without speaking, and feel like we just spend the weekend together. When I was a little girl, I knew an elderly couple that got married as soon as they became legal, and when he was 77, he died. His wife, my friend of 75, only lasted two months before she died. She had no health conditions, and was very healthy for her age. Even at my young age, I knew she died of a broken heart, and if my love happens to die before I do, it will not be that I have made the choice to die as well, it is just because I cannot live with only half of me. I need him to complete me, to make my life happy and purposeful.
Do I believe we have more than 1? I believe we have a close 2nd, but no one could ever, EVER compare to a real and true soulmate.

"Soulmate" is a man made term to discribe the connectivity between two people. It actually is not real. A relationship is only as good as what you are willing to put into it. It takes work to make any relationship successful no matter if you think they are your "soulmate" or not.

a soul mate is one person that connects with you in such a powerful way that no matter what you feel the need to stay connected with them. I think there can be only one true soul mate, but its very possible to feel a warm connection to alot of people. Soul mates are simply 2 souls that are connected in a very strong way, you do not necessarily have to be a couple with your soul mate, but that's usually how it will end up because of the high interests in one another. But a soul mate could be a best friend, a bf/gf, a parent..... But its almost impossible to know who is your soul mate, so never go looking for them, if they are you will find each other.

I don't know. I think I met my soulmate 20 years ago, but, because of our ages, things didn't work out. I am married now, so, if we met up again, it just wouldn't happen.

Yes you can have more than one in your life time. A soul-mate is someone you can be yourself with, someone you can talk to and will understand, someone that you can just sit and be silent and you will not need to explain yourself to- It can be a friend, not necessarily lover.
