I eat a lot of spicy foods and it's come to the point where I don't taste much of the foods I eat anymore. And don't state the obvious: "stop eating hot foods." I want to know how to make them grow back for sure.

As you journey through adulthood, your sense of taste remains at roughly the same level, although abusing your taste buds, such as by smoking or repeatedly scalding the tongue with hot beverages, obviously has a dulling effect on them. Unlike all other brain cells, the olfactory receptor cells in the nose are continually dying off and regenerating themselves, but a gradual loss of smell sensitivity is not uncommon in the elderly.
Sometimes, though, things go seriously awry, permanently in some cases. It's estimated that between two and four million Americans suffer from smell and taste disorders. The complete loss of smell is called anosmia, while a significantly reduced ability to detect odors is referred to as hyposmia.

Sorry to say it because you said not to, but you might want to just not eat so much spicey foods. The above article didnt mention how long it takes for the tastebuds to regenorate, but when I quit smoking, it took about two weeks for my sense of smell and taste to come back. So, if you lay off the spicey foods, cut back dont stop all together, that might help you. I dont think you can make them grow back any faster than they are going to...It's just going to take time.

umm how do you get your tastebuds off your tounge? thats kinda cool lol. but chyeahh um it wont affect anything. kinda like if you burn your mouth from food. you know when tha one spot is numb and smooth for a couple days?? chyeahh thats basicly the same thing. it wont damage your tounge. fact is acually its wierd but because you chewed them off twice the amount will grow back. notice when you lose them the next time around some things taste a little better than before. yeahh thats why. anyway. no worries :D
