It’s precisely the scale of the U.S. failures in the Middle East so far that compel Washington to raise the ante even higher. At stake is the biggest imperial prize of all--control of the world’s main oil reserves, and with it, the economic and political levers to maintain the U.S. as the world’s sole superpower.

knujefp - we didn't invade Iraq to UP the oil supply, we did it to keep the OPEC standard consistent. In fact, Saddam's main threat was opening the spigots during the Iraq/ Iran War (when we supported him and gave him chemical weapans, WMD and intelligence) to fight. That caused "market instability" and guess what? Big Oil got pissed... so... that is why OK? The idea that we are "running out of oil" is foolish. Plus there are many nations that have no oil at all and do what is called "trade" and make allies and don't go around the world killing civilians to maintain hegemony over a region. Life matters to some people, not US citizens though apparently...

It's a nice way to say we don't mean the "Good Muslims" when we say the terrorists and those that support them. Do you have any idea what would happen to the world if we lost access to a reliable oil supply? Hundreds of millions would die. Think Katrina on a global scale. No diesel to farm with, or get food, or medical supplies to people in need, few are able to get to work, less care about work because the trucks can't get food to the market to feed their families. Looting would be common place... Need I go on?

No, it is a term used to describe a radical, fundamentalist, version of politicized Islam.
What's wrong with the US being the world's sole superpower? Do you have success regret? You know, the condition where you try to sabotage yourself because you feel that you don't deserve success.
Edit: Touchy, touchy. The ad hominem attacks just keep on coming.
Edit: Did you get some of that bad spinach? Perhaps you should lie down and never get back up.

Islamo-Fascism is what it is: fascists who happen to be Muslims.
That they are fascists is not in question: a reading of Bin Laden will remove any doubt that you may have.
That they are Muslime is not in question.
Your question implies that it's the Evil United States that is responsible for Islamo-Fascism. Unfortunately for those proposing this theory they've little beyond hot air to support their position.
"...control of the world’s main oil reserves..."? Control how?
No, it's not "control" we want - what we want is continued access via the world market for oil and we want it available to all who have the means to purchase it.
What we also want is those supplies to be available and not to be used to further the aims of mad dictators - be they bent on the destruction of their own countries (and those countries' oil infrastructure) a la Saddam Hussein or be they intent on using major supplies of oil to disrupt an increasingly integrated world economy that is only just beginning the decades-long process of switching from oil to something else as the principal source of energy use on Earth.

Too bad we don't own the oil companies....
So we don't get the oil. That's the problem with you Liberals these days, always twisting something around.
Granted, I believe Bush is a retard, and is a terrible leader, but hey, I support any conflict America enters.
Go read up on the oil companies. Bush doesn't get any revenue from them.
Your English is atrocious enlightenment. Your insults are childish, and you seem to be a fool. Have fun trying to be big and bad on the net.

First of all, it's not an empire. We don't govern the Middle East.
Second of all, the threat of extremist Muslims is real (not saying all Muslims are violent because they aren't; just a small minority) and they are jealous because we are successful and they want to play the blame game on someone for their failures (one of them is choosing to live in the 7th century while the rest of the civilized world is modernizing).

Where is all the oil from Iraq?
In case you haven't noticed Islamofascist have been trying to kill us for about 30 years. Time to wake up and smell the coffee. We're in a war whether you realize it or not. Our options are win or die.

Are you aware that the U.S. gets 20% of its oil from Saudi Arabia, 35% from Venezuela, and 35% from Nigeria? What reason do we have to wanna 'imperialize' those countries for? We got our own oil fields. Stop using that excuse!!

There are so many facts that could answer your question and disprove your attempt at a position...
If only it were, in fact, a "question" and not just another rant from another housebound high-schooler who is so desperate for affrimation and purpose.
Sad really, but if youtube is where you get your information, can we really be at all surprised?
