1. Why are the majority of people who think this Latino?
2. Why is it supposedly an act of a bigot to not support an illegal act?
3. I came here with my family from Mexico legally, but unlike some I was raised to assimilate and take pride in my new country, by speaking its language and working to make it better, so why do people think just because of my background I should support open borders?
4. Why do people always bring up "but this country was founded on immigrants..." yeah, that was 200 years ago when we actually needed citizens, now this country is suffering massive wage cuts, tax increases, lower standard of living, more diseases like TB, larger classrooms, and higher crime due to illegal immigration, so your outdated reference is nonsense?
5. Why do people always bring up "This country was originally blahblah's then you stole it?" Look throughout history, most major countries were stolen! Stop living in the past and get a real argument.

The reason it bothers me is every time someone brings up illegal immigrants the word Mexican comes up. Since you are so well educated on how much damage they do why don't you also look up Immigration statistics.
I don't care if you are 25% Mexican, really doesn't mean much in this day and age but constantly being singled out when the word "illegal immigrant" comes up gets very old. I am sure those 2 border agents up on charges (who BTW are Mexican Americans) find that tiresome as well. Many of us came here legally and in my case my family had the border cross them and not the other way around. But we get tired of the anti Mexican sentiment that no matter how you sugar coat it, keeps coming up. According to the INS reports Mexicans make up 32% of the total illegal immigration, how about we also look at the others instead of just trying to use the Mexicans as a scapegoat?
I am also going to add another piece of wisdom here. Now lets just say you traveled illegally ( name any central or south american country) and you got caught by the US border patrol. Which country would you claim you are from? Well logically Mexico since if you get deported you only get sent there instead of all the way to Columbia etc etc. Now tell me do you think this skews your statistics of where these illegal immigrants come from? If I need to answer this for you then obviously someone is living a shielded life.

properly, it easily seems that *many* of the main vocal warring parties are certainly bigots, while they go on television and say issues like, "Our united states of america is popping brown!" "Spanish is spoken greater often in California than English!" (the two expenses from Pat Robertson). upload to that the fact that maximum human beings of the protests are against unlawful immigrants from Latin u.s. (while there are over 2 million *white* unlawful immigrants interior the country, expected) and the noise does handle a racist tone. As on your #4 -- vast salary cuts, tax will advance, decrease familiar of residing, greater suitable school rooms, larger crime. Hmm, properly the crime value is extremely DOWN everywhere in the U. S. in the process the final 10+ years. the rest is especially because of Bush's financial rules, and has no longer something to do with unlawful immigrants. Even the expected 12 million unlawful immigrants are nevertheless in user-friendly terms below 3% of the completed US inhabitants, they simply have not got that super of an effect on centers, colleges, or taxes. perhaps you ought to tutor your self on the information around an argument earlier spouting off on it, hmm? with the aid of ways, your loved ones's "assimilation" ethic is admirable -- in spite of if it isn't the only way. this may well be a unfastened united states of america, bear in strategies? If immigrants, criminal or no longer, want to hold onto their language, traditions, etc. they are completely unfastened to realize this -- that's what u.s. is all approximately. Vive la distinction!

I don't they really do. I think that, instead, it's a very weak argument they use because they have nothing more substantive with which to counter the arguments of those who are opposed to illegal aliens.
It's no different than the term "racist". That term too is mostly trotted out to get the opponent of the one using the term to shut up. They say "racist", you shut up. They say "bigot", you shut up.
I say, call them on it directly. Calmly explain what bigotry IS and what principled opposition to illegal aliens IS and ask them for a thoughtful and reasoned response.
Now, this "forum" is not the place for that kind of discussion. Unfortunately, it's populated mostly by folks who are remarkably uninformed, have very simple views of complex issues, and are rarely interested in what people with differing opinions have to say. Many seem very unhappy and they appear to come here solely to vent.

Thank you sooooo much for this question/statement! This makes sooo much sense to people that are really knowledgeable about immigration.
I also applaud you for being a person of standards and it is a shame that the bad eggs ruin it for the good eggs.
Unfortunately...pro illegals know they are wrong on so many levels. As a matter of fact I think the only people who are pro illegal are: Illegals, ppl who take advantage of illegals through low wages, ppl who are not directly effected by illegals and could give a shi* less, and even our government.
The only defense the above individuals have is to say that a) you are racist and b) the above 5 points you mentioned. Frankly...it is not much of a defense and I am tired having battles of wits with unarmed persons.

You go girl, well said. But to answer you question it is simple they can say and do what ever they want. They have more rights then we do as citizens. Most if not all of us legal citizens feel the same way. All I think any of us want is for the illegals to come here legally. It doesn't matter what race they are either.

Great post. I couldnt agree with you more. Too bad people dont get the difference between ILLEGAL immigrants and Legal immagrants. A lot of people like to "throw all immigrants under the same bus".

Well I think the Mexican people are finally getting it. We have really pulled the wool over their eyes. Yes we let millions of illegals in at a time when we needed roads built and houses built produce picked and truck drivers to deliver the goods at a very low price. We lowered interest rate so big companies could borrow money to expand their businesses and so the working class could be fooled into buying houses at incredibly rediculous prices. Why build houses? it stimulates the economy for big business. Why lower interest rates? So people can afford to buy a home. Why should they buy instead of rent? So the can tax the new homeowner at the rediculous price they paid for the home. Now we are passing laws to get rid of the illegals and send them back and eventually get back to a even economy If you think the government doesn't have a clue think again.
By the way we just passed a bill to build 730 miles of border fencing. We can use the illegals to build the wall that keeps them out. Think Tom Sawyer was good!!!

Amen. Just because someone is anti-illegal immigration doesn't make them racist. I'm 25% Mexican and yes, I am anti-illegal immigration. But I'm not racist. If people want to come here for a better life, they are entitled to do that but they must do it legally.
What Mexicans SHOULD DO is protest THEIR government for stiffing them.

The reason why they think this way is because there is no logical defense to breaking the law and being a criminal. By playing the race card they try to deflect the debate away from the fact that they're criminals.
