I don't believe that when there are 2 people in a room there is only one right answer. All people, regardless of belief still look at things differently. So for you to say only one answer is nuts. If there was only one answer because of Christianity there would only be one church because all people would think alike. I don't feel like this question is relevant to the immigration problem because even Jesus believed in laws of the land. If not then criminals would be walking the streets with us daily. A criminal is a criminal is a criminal regardless of your belief of choice.

Its nice to say "Let them all in." I'm tired of and cant continue to afford it...for example: In my town/city I work outside of the city. I have to pay an occupational tax. Stinks...but hey, its my civil duty. What stinks even worse is that because (in my town) there are so many illegals working under the table and legals collecting welfare AND NOT WORKING AND PAYING TAXES I now have to pick up the tab by paying my occupational tax plus one for the city.

This may be one small example...but these "small examples" add up. I am struggling to make ends meet. I don't ask anyone for anything and here I am picking up the immigrants slack.

I think Jesus might chose to feed the poor like the Bible says he did over and over. However, Jesus never encouraged or supported for people, no matter how poor, to break the law.

So I think he would send food to Mexico so that people down there would stop breaking the law by coming here.

Whatever may be the religious values we need rules that need to be followed so that order prevails and unnecessary chaos may be avoided.
A true christian or for that matter any true man of God will actually support such laws that are compassionate but practical even as the harshness and unjust portions are removed. Their approach will be more humanitarian even as the laws are enforced.

Jesus would not be saying obey the laws of your state. He broke the laws of his religion almost all the time the clergy ruled back then they made the laws. That is why he was crucified. The Jewish clergy didn't like his brand of Jewish faith . Jesus was about compassion.

He allowed anyone and everyone who opened their hearts to the lord to follow him. Many of his followers were considered the scourge of society at the time. Thieves Prostitutes ect ect . They repented and asked for forgiveness, and were granted just that, by a compassionate lord..

Race, borders and past deeds meant nothing.. Willingness to follow in the path of God was all it took. Faith and Trust in the lord was what was required nothing else.

Jesus lived all the way on the other side of the planet, why would he be concerned with our immigration problems?

2006-09-17 20:33:34 · answer #7 · answered by Chris J 6 · 0 0

the problem here is that most people aren't thinking about it.

Man's law makes not difference in the eyes of God. It is the way you treat your fellow man for which you shall be judged.

According to my beliefs, we are all brothers and sisters... there would be no such thing as "immigraton problems" as far as Jesus Christ is concerned. He is a being who loves all mankind. He does not judge a person for what country he comes from? He does not look down on people and tell them :No, you are not worthy of walking or working on this side of the lawn. If we are believers in Christ, we are all worthy...

-God bless

If God was for real, he would have stopped straight away the golden images and expensive churches and the like in this world.. it's in the bible, no false images. There would be no war as it is now. As you know, most of the wars we have are religous . Shame, we can't live together as one. Yes, and shock horror. we have 800,000 people coming in to into thre U.K, with no waiting, who will be entiled to housing & beniofit monry, with no questions asked. My partener iis dealing with it now. We are too small in this country. Australia, has got it right & you have to have a job to go to. My hope at the moment, that a independent part will get in, instead of the norm.

It is a violation of law for any person to conceal, harbor, or shield from detection in any place, including any building or means of transportation, any alien who is in the United States in violation of law. HARBORING MEANS ANY CONDUCT THAT TENDS TO SUBSTANTIALLY FACILITATE AN ALIEN TO REMAIN IN THE U.S. ILLEGALLY. The sheltering need not be clandestine, and harboring covers aliens arrested outdoors, as well as in a building. This provision includes harboring an alien who entered the U.S. legally but has since lost his legal status.

The penalty for felony harboring is a fine and imprisonment for up to five years. The penalty for felony alien smuggling is a fine and up to ten years' imprisonment. Where the crime causes serious bodily injury or places the life of any person in jeopardy, the penalty is a fine and up to twenty years' imprisonment. If the criminal smuggling or harboring results in the death of any person, the penalty can include life imprisonment. Convictions for aiding, abetting, or conspiracy to commit alien smuggling or harboring, carry the same penalties. Courts can impose consecutive prison sentences for each alien smuggled or harbored. A court may order a convicted smuggler to pay restitution if the alien smuggled qualifies as a victim under the Victim and Witness Protection Act. Conspiracy to commit crimes of sheltering, harboring, or employing illegal aliens is a separate federal offense punishable by a fine of up to $10,000 or five years' imprisonment
