We just told out little guy tonight if we can, t find a rescue shelter or finacial help we would be forced to put hunter down. He's only 15 months old. Any Ideas? thanks

Run! dont walk, to one of the addisons lists. Homepages www.k9addisons.com or www.addisondogs.com. There are hundreds of people there who can give you advice on cutting costs (frequently we can get the monthy meds cost to around $30). I know there are a few members with files on how to obtain finacial assistance form charities (opps sorry not something I saved) If all else fails, while there is no formal rescue network through the lists, many dogs have found new homes when a list member felt they could take a new/second addisons dog

I would first contact the breeder that you purchased Hunter from and let her know his diagnosis. I would then contact some Coonhound Rescue Groups to see if they can direct you toward some financial assistance, I would also contact your local Humane Society to see if they can direct you to some assistance. Because Addisons Disease requires lifelong medication, I would ask your vet if he can reduce the $ of medication, or see if it is a medication that can be purchased at a regular pharmacy, as sometimes that can be cheaper. My dog was on a drug that was expensive and it was something available through a human pharmacy, so what I did was I called all of the pharmacies in my area for a price quote and chose the least expensive one. If you live in a state that has a Vet College, contact them for assistance or direction. I hope one of these ideas works for you. If you run out of financial options, you may be lucky enough to find a kind and caring person who is financially able to afford Hunters treatment. I worked at an Animal Hospital for 8 years and fortunately we were always able to place pets like Hunter. Please don't give up hope, keep trying ,there are still some kind humans out there that are willing to help. God Bless.

PS-If you run out of options, please send another post, I will keep checking.

Sorry to hear of your situation. If you live in a university town( or near one) you may have access to a veterinary teaching clinic. They generally keep the dog during treatment and have resources for financial assistance. Good Luck

contact your local SPCA or a vet that is near explain the problem and set up a payment program with them, most vets will do this,
If you can find an SPCA in your area they should help you for nothing.

Try PETA.com or talk to local petsmart or someplace like that and ask if they will sponsor him.
