Okay, so the batteries were about dead, worked on substituting batteries, the battery cover does not now fit over the case. Crest net shows it so easy. Should I give Up? Do I need a big hammer to the case? No snap together. no juice. Suggest, please.

Right after I submitted question -- there suddenly came the right answer! The rubber gasket in the shaft needed cleaning and a light swab of vaseline jelly. That's all.

I suspect you have the wrong batteries, or have them in the wrong way, or have the cap in the wrong direction. To be sure, I just went and changed the batteries in mine, AAA, and the bottom snapped on just fine.

The one away from the brush side goes negative side out, the one on the brush side goes positive side out. Then, the little scooped out part of the cap fits on toward the brush side.

Let us know if you got it.
