The Maine Coon is the native American longhaired cat and was recognized as a specific breed in Maine where they were held in high regard for their mousing talents look at this site about them http://www.cfainc.org/breeds/profiles/maine.html

I have 3 and they constantly bring home dead mice, and other small animals the females tend to catch more

The best mouser I ever had was a little female tabby. She cleaned up all the mice within a couple miles of my house. I am now owned by a lovely Siamese lady who also is a pretty good mouser. I never figured a Siamese cat to be much of a mouser but this one does a pretty good job of keeping those darn mice out of my garage and pole barn.

This is going to sound terrible.....but the ones that are starving.

Seriously, though, I don't think there's too big of a difference when discussing breed....just the individual nature of the cat.

When I was a kid, I had two declawed cats (I'd never declaw now)....anyways, neither one had any of their claws, but were always bringing rodents home.

Depends on the cat's energy level and tenacity. If your cat brings you a rodent, reward it with some tuna, milk, chicken, beef, or something you don't give her much. Pet the cat alot and talk in a happy tone. You will reinforce your cats behavior.

cats are the most perfect killing machine. they will kill for not only for food, but for the joy of killing. it is what cats are made to do. the lion and other big cats only kill when they need to eat, conserving all energy for when they need to hunt again. but the domestic cat will kill for fun, for lack of a better word.
