I'm in the same pickle. And I'll be wearing a pink dress. I wish you luck.

Your duties can range from just smiling for the pictures to offering your opinion in what color the flowers should be. I've been a bridesmaid i think 10 times & each experience was different. My last expereince... i assisted the bride in about 80% of the planning for the wedding, helped plan the bridal shower & helped the bride the day of the ceremony. If your schedule doesn't accomodate a lot of time for your friends wedding planning... offer as much as you can but don't go out of your way. Do not stress yourself out!!! You're not the bride.

You assit the bride - most especially on her wedding day. You'll probably have to buy the dress so be prepared for that. Your job is to help with a bridal shower if there will be one and to help with a bachelorette party if there will be one.
Just ask the bride what you can do to help and I am quite sure she will guide you from there. Some brides are more needy and demanding than others...

You pay for your own attire when instructed, and other than that are a generally supportive friend, attend rehearsal and perform in the ceremony. You may be asked to help Maid of Honor host (and pay for) a shower or bachelorette party.
That's it. Those are all the duties. You're not an errand-runner or servant.
