The natives weren't called Americans. Most land was uninhabited. America the country was created by Europeans. Everyone added something along the way, including those pesky Europeans. Now we are a melting pot. We, Europeans, were never "illegal". Stop trying to turn the tables with arguements that don't go both ways. If you are in favor of immigration, say so, but don't claim AMERICANS are illegal in the country called AMERICA.

While there was an exclusionary law against the Chinese in the 1800s there was not a law against mass immigration to this country until 1924.So if your first ancestors came to this country before that of course they were legal. No laws against equals legal..The erroneous things you hear on this forum have no basis in fact.No the 'natives" were not indigenous to this country having crossed here via the Bering Strait.from another Continent The false statement also made ,that we "stole" the southwest from Mexico is perpetuated on here but again just Internet talk and not true fact. They were beaten in a war and the lands taken as the spoils of war and the Mexican government was paid $15 million cash, plus we took over debts of Mexicos that equaled$3,25 million for the land.So it was not only won it was paid for.We also purchased Louisiana from the French and you don't hear them crying about its their land.
So if your ancestors came here before 1924 you they didn't have any reason to be illegal because there were no laws .after that they needed to be legal.
There is absolutely no comparison between the settlers of the US and the illegal immigrants from any other country.
It was not illegal for people to leave their country's to come to the US .at times people were given the choice of going to debtors prison or going to the new world.others came as indentured to the people that financed the trip for
them. They worked for those people for anywhere
from 5 to 7 yrs.No one was illegal because they
wanted to populate the New World and any one
brave enough to come ,was allowed to come.
.
You really need to read a History book.

I can only assume you were sleeping during history classes. We bought most of it. Louisiana purchase, Steward's folly (Alaska) from Russia, etc. etc. Even the Native Americans probably came over on land bridges, so they weren't the 'first' either. And now the Native Americans are being more than paid back for their lands. Look at the casinos they own.

There were no native americans when people from Europe started coming over here.
It wasn't America UNTIL the Europeans named it that.

Did the natives have a united country with immigration laws?
No, they didn't.

Well I think the Mexican people are finally getting it. We have really pulled the wool over their eyes. Yes we let millions of illegals in at a time when we needed roads built and houses built produce picked and truck drivers to deliver the goods at a very low price. We lowered interest rate so big companies could borrow money to expand their businesses and so the working class could be fooled into buying houses at incredibly rediculous prices. Why build houses? it stimulates the economy for big business. Why lower interest rates? So people can afford to buy a home. Why should they buy instead of rent? So the can tax the new homeowner at the rediculous price they paid for the home. Now we are passing laws to get rid of the illegals and send them back and eventually get back to a even economy If you think the government doesn't have a clue think again.

I like History and the lessons you can learn from it very much. However, I, like most people, don't live it!! I wonder how anyone felt when the natives moved in?

only full blooded native americans are fully LEGAL since this is THEIR land that was taken from them and they were made into outsiders in their OWN land.

Considering that most indigenous groups didn't even have a concept of property ownership or formal law, I doubt they thought of the European settlers as "illegals".
