It seems like most women wear pants and men have started wearing those horrible cargo shorts instead of pants. What happened to women dressing like women and men wearing pants? I don't care to look at some guys hairy legs when I am eating at the mall. Some guys actually show up on dates wearing shorts, yuck!

I'm only 40 so I'm not old. I just think people are terribly sloppy. What ever happened to looking your best at all times? Nothing charming or feminine about a woman in a pair of pants and come on guys, put on a pair of pants, unless your washing your car or doing yard work. Leave the shorts for the beach

I can't believe all of the different answers listed. 2000 years ago skirts and robes were a men's garment. Pants were not worn by either men nor women because they bring attention to the crotch area causing lustful thoughts which is all sin. Even if men wore pants they would wear an apron or skirt over the pants to cover up the crotch. Over the years society perverted things by wearing pants only and skipped the skirts and aprons so that they could see people's crotch area and lust after each other. Now today, people think that the norm is pants for men and skirts for women and most men are so convinced of this lie that they don't feel comfortable wearing skirts at all. They are perverted in their thinking on what is right and what is not. But the bottom line is that in the beginning skirts and robes were men's garments, but showing the form of both men and women by the wearing of pants only was sinful. Today few can accept this truth.

Pants are alot more comfortable than skirts in some occassions and are often more useful with different jobs. Also, it's harder for guys to do anything rather than just slide a hand up your leg when you're wearing a skirt.
As for the cargo pants and shorts, that's personal preference to the guy.
Simplest answer: Times have changed.

People have the liberty to wear what they want, so everyone wears what they themselves find comfortable or like the style of and we don't all have to be like sheep, all dressing the same to please certain people. I can't say I give a damn what anyone thinks about me wearing pants. I like pants and hate skirts and the choice is mine. If some hairy guy wants to wear shorts that's fine, he's free to do so. And you are free to wear a skirt. Noone is forcing you to wear pants if you don't want to.
If you don't like the way people dress, watch something else. Be happy we don't have some fascists controlling what we wear. Try to accept the fact that times change and that not everyone likes the same as you.

Well, I don't wear shorts very often. But some people just like to wear them. And so what if our legs are hairy? People have a right to dress comfortably, as long as all the "private" areas are covered. And there's nothing wrong with showing up for a date wearing shorts, either, as long as you're going somewhere casual like a movie or a casual restaurant.

Skirts are fine. I wear them sometimes. But I wear pants more often. Warmer in the winter and really just more comfy. I don't have to worry about flashing something I don't want to.
I think pants can look just as dressy as a skirt. It all depends on how you accessorize.
As for men, I love a man in a kilt. Wish I could get my husband to wear one, because he has killer legs. Mmm mmm mmm!

it's just the manner in which they were raised. some were raised with the understanding that the manner in which you dress offers the most viable first impression and thus that manner in which you will be treated from there on out. people no longer dress with any sense of couth or respectability.
-- it's nice to see someone around my age that things the shorts and "muffin tops" are a bit much. the muffin tops - thats what a group a little old ladies visiting my hotel called te young girls with their middles and others area protruding out from their clothing that was just way too tight/small ; )

Why don't we just stop voting as well? I love wearing skirts, dresses, and heels but I also like being able to wear pants, shorts, or whatever else. It's about having all the options
