Central to contemporary Christian theology is the notion that humanity's redemption from 'sin' and entry into Heaven rests solely with the vicarious and sacrificial death of Jesus on the cross and the personal acceptance of that doctrine by those who wish to be 'saved' through the auspices of a formal acceptance ritual (i.e. 'baptism') and 'blind faith'. The source of this doctrine rests almost entirely with Paul (Saul) who argued that the whole purpose of Jesus' mission was centred on his sacrificial death - that through the shedding of his blood, Jesus absolved the faithful of their sins allowing them to enter 'heaven' after their physical death. Paul explicitly states that humans can do nothing themselves to secure salvation - that even leading an exemplary life counts for nothing unless they personally accept the sacrifice Jesus is alleged to have made on their behalf associated with his 'death' on the cross. (Ephesians 002:008-9)

It goes without saying that this doctrine requires those wishing to be 'saved' to accept the power and authority of the Church in their self appointed role as "God's vicars on Earth".

This rather naive, and some would say barbaric interpretation of Jesus' purpose has been embraced without proper thought by literally millions of humans throughout history because, by conferring the responsibility for personal spiritual matters to a higher authority such as the Church and accepting the doctrine without question on faith alone, it releases 'believers' from any responsibility regarding their own actions and behaviour, something many humans find very comforting. (a lazy person's path to spirituality so to speak)

The problem with this doctrine is that it is not supported by any evidence - be it scientific, theological or historical - and is certainly not supported by anything Jesus is reported to have said, taught or done. Thus, this doctrine is not mentioned in the Sermon on the Mount (arguably the quintessence of Jesus' message), or the Lord's Pray, or any of the parables Jesus shared with his followers

I don't believe Jesus died on a cross for my sins, as the oldest scrolls say he died on a branchless tree.

As for Jesus dying for our sins, it fulfilled the Covenant with the Jews, that the day would come when a human would take the place of the lamb sacrificed in the Temple, each year to cleanse the Jews of their sins. The lamb's throat was slit, allowing its soul (blood) to pour out on the ground, than its flesh was destroyed by fire on the Alter in the Most Holy. Jesus had to die to fulfill prophesy. His soul was poured out on the grown, when he was tortured and than his side was pierced, afterwords, his flesh was destroyed, as his body laid in the grave. All he was, was written in the Book of Life, to be placed in his spiritual body when he was resurrected.

Jesus was high on what was the equivalent of weed, he was probably so smoked up he didn't even know what was going on. He had a massive dinner party before he went and he lived with a prostitute --- Sounds like the guy had a good life and we wouldn't remember him anyay if it wasn't for this mistaken identity thing.. Fair play on the guy for having a good life, but certainly didn't die for me. He died because he was a political rebel.. Next they'll be claiming George Galloway is the son of god - I know he already claims to be ;)

Christ died for everyone, because He wanted everyone to have the chance to gain Eternal Life. However, this is by choice. You can chose to accept His sacrifice for your sake, receive The Holy Spirit and become your true self (fully fulfilled and satisfied as the person you were designed to be). or you can reject Jesus and go your own way.

The point is, if you take responsibility for your own sins by rejecting Jesus, you will not get Eternal Life because no-one is good enough in their own strength. Isaiah said "All our righteousness is as dirty rags." It also means Jesus took your punishment for nothing.

Eternal Life is only for those that are loyal to God, because He can only give it to people He can trust. There are many people that call themselves Christians who will fall foul of this, because if they have been baptised in water, and even in The Holy Spirit and been disloyal to Jesus, they will not get Eternal Life. Even if they have healed thousands and cast demons out of hundreds, they will not get Eternal Life if they are disloyal to Christ. If they have not shown mercy and compassion to people, if they have not loved even their enemies, they will not get Eternal Life because they will have been disloyal to the teachings of Jesus and His Apostles.

"The only thing that counts is faith expressed through love"
"Love all, forgive all, show mercy, judge no-one"

Jesus (Eesaa) is prophet of God not the son of God or God Himself! Far removed is God from such claims! Jesus is not dead, he was not crucified but God took him away and replecd him with another. Jesus is alive and will return to this world. He will break the cross! The truth shall be clear. Jesus is human, HE WILL DIE! then he will be ressurrected with everyone else on the day of ressurrection.

PS Jesus had no father, this does not mean God is his father...far removed is God from such false statements. If one (Christians) can believe God was his father, why should it be so hard to believ that he has no father at all?? Jesus was created without a father just as Adam was created without father or mother!!!!

It was one of many theological interpretations and, along with the fulfillment of old testament prophecy, it won out (and the others were discarded and some even branded as heresy).

Just routine punishment in those times for 'stepping out of line' but if you bring a little logic to bear, Jesus was only one of God's children - as the rest of us must be, - it follows if you think it through.

Jesus did not die on the cross.

How could he die without completing what he was sent to do?

God sent Jesus to reform Judaism amongst all the tribes of Isreal. Would God let his messenger perish in such a humiliating manner or would he be assist in carrying out Gods work in finding the lost tribes of Isreal?

It's what they believe. Of course you didn't ask. He did it without being asked (according to the Christian religion). However, if someone did something for me without being asked to, I don't think he should expect anything from me in return.

Jesus, did not die on a cross!
Ex.: The word cross, is a mistransliteration from when the Bible was translated to Latin. The cosest word in Latin was 'crux', which was then followed through with the English 'cross'.
Check this using your Strong's Exhaustive Concordance. It is indeed true!
(The word from the Koine Greek was 'stauroos', which is literally 'stake', as in a single verticle piece of timber).
