Pretty much all of upstate New York, except for the finger lakes, is
a rotting h*ll hole. Yes, Rochester, Syracuse, Buffalo, and Niagara Falls are truly the most Godfordaken, falling-apart, jobless(Kodak cut back 3/4 of it's employees in last two years...Thanks, digital
cameras!) cities in the entire USA!
Only the "orangemen" basketball team give the area anything of note to cheer about. The US side of Niagara is a s***hole indeed!
a sad tourist trap, pollution-filled and devoid of jobs, that makes Detroit look good in Comparison. God help the souls of those
jobless, overweight, hopeless people of upstate New York indeed!
And Buffalo! Don't get me started! The football team lost EVERY
superbowl it was in, and its greatest sports hero is the murderer,
OJ Simpson! The entire down of Buffalo is out of work! The east
side of Buffalo is the closet thing to hell on earth. Buffalo, makes Gary, Indiana look good! Even Gary has a few jobs at their casino
boats! Pray for Buffalo!!!!!!

Upstate New York is everything north and west of Albany........I forgot about the Adirondacks and Lake Placid....I already said the finger lakes were nice....It's the rust belt cities up there that stink up the place...hard to believe they are in the same
state..drive around the east end of Buffalo,
and pinch yourself and try to realize that you are in the same state as NYC! Only a
new tork resident knows what the h*ll I'm talking about!

The above disclaimer was on every deed
of every home purchased in the area.
The "Hooker" company(wish I was making that name up", absolved themselves of all responsibility for cleaning up the area, or getting sued for the same.

Shortly thereafter, the board began construction on the 99th Street School in its originally intended location. The building site was forced to relocate when contractors discovered two pits filled with chemicals. The new location was directly on top of the former chemical landfill. During construction, a clay seal which Hooker had put in to stop the chemicals seeping out was broken through, despite the breaking of several drill bits in the process

It was not until scientific investigations were undertaken that it could be proven the chemicals were responsible for the ill health of residents. Geologists were recruited to prove that underground swales were responsible for carrying the chemicals to the surrounding residential areas. Once there, they explained, chemicals leached into basements and evaporated into household air. On May 17, 1980, the EPA announced the result of blood tests that showed chromosome damage in Love Canal residents. Residents were told that this meant they were at increased risk of cancer, reproductive problems and genetic damage.
With the growing evidence and two years of effort by Lois Gibbs and other residents, President Carter declared a state of emergency at Love Canal on May 21, 1980 and the EPA agreed to evacuate all Love Canal families temporarily until permanent relocation funds could be secured. [2] Eventually, the government relocated more than 800 families and reimbursed them for their homes,

Oscarchick gave a great explanation..thank you Oscarchick.......Now we see that upstate
New York has a shi*ty business environonment because of NYC. NYC
artificially pumps up the tax rate of upstate,
and upstate's money obviously flows to NYC by way of Albany. So upstate NY is crucified on the back of NYC. Interesting

Sorry Avatar...Mr. Johnson lives in the mean streets of Chicago, who kicks the worlds collective a ss! We are very proud
to have the highest murder rate per capita
in the USA! One would have to go into an active war zone(kids, can you say green
zone in Bagdad), to find a higher murder rate. Actually, we have had several soldiers
killed after they came back frim Iraq on the streets of Chicago, so you can say its worse than Iraq here.......
Buffalo and Detroit are uglier, but Chicago
is meaner, Jack.
Walk our south side without a brick, bat,
pistol, or tazer and see how far you get.
Even our whites are like animals in the blue-collar areas here!

If you grew up in upstate NY like I did, you can't JUST be figuring this out, can you? My vote for the biggest shithole in the state would have to be Utica, followed closely by Binghamton, Syracuse, Niagara Falls, Schenectady, Buffalo, and then anything south of Poughkeepsie. At least the new mayor of Rochester is trying to bring pride back to the neighborhoods, and empower people to clean up their own streets.
We can thank our wonderful state government for making this the worst state in the union for business development, causing our jobs to go elsewhere. The cost of living is outrageous, and people are taxed up the ying yang. The jobs that have remained are either entry-level minimum wage jobs, or high paying white collar jobs that require years of education. There is no happy medium. Our schools and healthcare are rated in the bottom 33% - that is sure something to be proud of....
Our state motto should be "I Love NY - Just Bend Me Over!"

The people who founded Seventh Day Adventists were descendants from some apostate Mormons. This is why their beliefs are so similar to LDS beliefs. Especially their belief of how to care for your body. LDS has the Word of Wisdom where coffee, tea, tobacco and alcohol are forbidden. Seventh Day Adventists have a document that reads amazing similar to that one of the Mormons' which requires the same things and a little more for caring for the body. As for Jehovah's Witness, I know nothing of their origins.
