Well, the pope has renounced his sexual urges. He's made a conscious choice not to act on them.
You should understand that human beings needn't act on every urge that comes one's way.
This fact separates human beings from animals.
Now if I dangle a piece of meat in front of my dog, the poor creature has no choice but to salivate and start carrying on.
But as a human being, I can make a conscious choice to forego meat, or sex, or anything else--for that matter.
That's the bottom line.
Now -- are you disciplined enough to renounce your inappropriate urges???

the pope is supposed to be above sexual urges. I want to be critical, but I am going to avoid the little boy jab and stop right here.

They should just allow priests to get married. This will not only solve a lot of scandalous problems but will also be treating priests in a natural way.
