Routine is the key..same time EVERY day..Feed her 3-4 times per day, depending on her age..Remove her bowl after 10 minutes. Take her outside after every feeding. She will go about 5-10 minutes after being fed, depending on her age. It will take awhile for her to learn/develop bladder control, but potty should be easier. Feed on a strict schedule, so that she isn't fed just before bedtime, as she will need to go shortly after being fed..Young pups should be fed and then walked 4 times per day, *until* they poop...She will need more frequent outings for peeing...Walk her just before bedtime, to make certain she is empty..
Never scold for mistakes, but give lavish praise every time she goes outside, like she won the lottery.....Pups can only hold their pee for 1 hour, per month of age..So, its important to empty them just before bedtime..
Use the same word every time, such as 'go poo-poo'..
The most important thing is to watch her closely, and scoop her up and outside when she begins to act restless, turn circles, etc. soon she will whine and look at you when she needs to go.
Be patient...If your patience wears then, talk to your mom, and ask her how long it took to potty train you...How many times she changed your diaper, and bedding....lol

I've heard that rubbing her nose in what she's done is effective, but I'd call that quite inhumane. Watch what she does for a while until she does use the bathroom and make a mental note of her bahavior right before she went. Usually female dogs *some males included* will get into a squatty possition. If you see this behavior or whatever she does right before she goes, pick her up and bring her outside, keep her out until she goes and then bring her back in once she has finnished. If it's a matter of she just starts going with absolutely no warning sign *as in she's still standing up, or laying down and she didn't even know she was going to go* then it may be a continance issue. If that is the case, it's a case for your vet to diagnose. Be patiant with your puppy and she will learn. I've never heard of a dog that couldn't be housebroken, but if all else fails, there's allways doggy diapers^_^. Oh yeah, and a schedule may not work because the puppy may not understand you are taking her outside to do her business, and let's try putting you on a schedule of when you can use the bathroom. Not such a happy idea, huh? If she understnd that messing inside is bad and messing outside is good, she'll figure out how to let you know when it is time, teach it to ring a cowbell or something.

Put your puppy on a regular feeding schedule-don't leave food down all the time. Also get someone you know to bring their dog over that is the same sex as yours and have it do its thing in your yard then take your puppy right and put it in the general area this get the puppy used to the marking of territory and it should use the bathroom after smelling the other dogs scents. It has worked for my chihuahuas and a friend's beagles. Hope this helps :)

Puppy pads don't seem to work. I never used them when training my dog. She was almost 3 months when I got her.
It's difficult to house train a dog and you have to be really committed, patient, and willing to make sacrifices. You need to be able to take the puppy outside every couple of hours at least - yes, even at night. I can remember many a sleepy night taking her out at midnight and then again between 2 and 3am, then 5am. But after a few weeks it paid off. She never went in the house after the consistent training. As she got older she could hold it longer. Now that she's 3 years old her last walk for the night is around 9pm and she doesn't go again until I take her out before leaving for work in the morning. My partner takes her out after that or on certain days she goes to doggie daycare.
After your puppy eats, take her for a walk. If she pees or poops, give her lots of praise. If she doesn't, then in another hour or so, take her out again and if she does it, praise her. What happens is the puppy will soon learn that the place where she is supposed to go is outside. She will sniff the urine/poop of other dogs around bushes etc, and this will also reinforce the fact that she's supposed to go outside and not in the house.
Once she gets older she'll even begin to signal you if you aren't paying attention and she needs to go out. My dog will come up to me and stare at me intently or she'll take her head and butt it up agains my arm if I sitting on the couch, then stare at me and go toward the door.

Female dogs are easier to train but you have to be consistent. I have taken my puppies out every hour on the hour. As I am taking them out I say lets go outside. When we get outside I tell them to go potty. Keep repeating this. Dont go back in until they have gone. When they do go give them lots of praise! I have had 4 puppies I trained this way and they were trained in a week. If you have to leave put them in a kennel. They dont like to go where they are sleeping. One puppy I had a pretty big kennel that I put her in until I was sure she was trained. It had her bed on one end and papers on the other. Hope this helps!

Bring your dog outside every 1-2 hrs. be consistent and make sure you here for any whining or barking. Take him/her out if you here these sounds. and don't use puppy pads they attract them to go inside rather than outside.

I would love for my dog to use the bathroom. How did you train him to flush????
But seriously. You'll need to thoroughly clean the area she's using so the smell is gone. Buy enzyme cleaner at the pet store. It eats the bacteria that makes the smell, so she won't return to that area. Then you need to make sure you praise her to high heaven when she potties outside, and scold her (but never rub her nose in it) when she does it inside. She'll get the message. What she wants most in the world is to please you. Make sure she knows she's pleasing you by pottying outdoors.

my dog used to do that wen we got him as a puppy, but wat we did and it worked, is we always had to take him outside adn we made going outside a pleasurable experience. You take him outside after the dog eats, drinks, etc. i know it can be a hassle, but it is worth it it works. you make outside a fun experience, by saying in a happy highpitched voice, "do you wanna go outside?" you get them xcited and jumpy and take them out and say go potty, and stay with them until they do then praise them
i hope this helps
god bless
