and see how convinced and dedicated they are to their faith - yet from your perspective you know that what they believe isn't real. Likewise - the other person looks at your religion and is equally convinced that they are correct and you are deluded. How do you know that you really are the one who is right - knowing that if you are wrong that you will be equally sure that you are right?

You are dealing with a dualistic context. Right Vs. Wrong. I tend to stay away from that. The religion I practice is "right" for me. It very may well not be right for. Whereas another religion is not "right" for me but is for you. The other thing is it isn't necessarily about what is real. That is an issue of perception not validity.

Even if the people you describe should agree; there would still be no proof that either one was right, as there is no universal criterion for truth.

In the Christian religion what you believe must match Bible teaching in two or more Scriptures at a minimum and be witnessed by the spirit of truth that resides within.

It may and most often is backed up by a prophet or prophetic word from another believer. In many cases a sign comes with the prophecy.

It is also possible to lay down a fleece before the Lord, a kind of personal sign requested regarding a personal matter.

Most often there is direct answer to prayer where the thing is simply done. You may be prompted to take a direction that leaves no question in your mind. You may receive a Scripture verse that gives your answer.

You may hear an audible answer or receive a visitor with your answer. In all cases what you receive will not contradict the internal witness of Christ, the written Word or the prophetic Word spoken for the hour in which you live.

To answer your question: Everything is done with confirmation of two or three witnesses with actual results and/or supernatural evidence.

Religion is an institution that has been created to make the bible fit them. All religions contain some truth and all are wrong in some way. Have you confessed your sins and given your life to Jesus. That is what it takes to get to heaven. lets all quit arguing and spread the Gos pal of blood bought salvation.

What it comes down to is "Relationship."

To attempt Worship to a god who one cannot relate to is kinda like the Wizard of Oz "Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!"
What tells me that my Chrisianity is real is not merely that I personally believe it. It is because the one whom I serve, Jesus Christ took the time to come to be born in Jerusalem, a mere man like me. To live amongst us, to feel what I feel, to experience life as I have so He could truly know me.
Then, if that wasn't enough, He surrendered to death on the Cross and conquered death as the only perfect sacrifice for my sin.
God actually want's to know us, as a Father would want to know his child.
This is not the god of other religions. Muslims cannot know Allah, they teach Allah is a mystery, and that it is an abomination to assume you can communicate with Allah.....Therefore Islam is a Bastard Religion, for there is no Father.

The only people that should be really sure that they are right, is the people that can prove what they are believing in. Example: the Bible is there to guide you and it pertains to our lives because all of the things in the Bible have happened before and can happen again. You just have to know your sources and prove your word.

If you have faith in the religion of your choice, thats all that really matters, it isnt about which one is right and which one is wrong. Its about believing in a power higher than yourself because there is always a higher power.

I am an atheist. I have concluded that faith is impossible for me, as being an atheist wasn't a choice, merely a natural non-belief, much like my natural non-beliefs in fairies and ghosts. It just isn't logical to believe in a god, and so I think my beliefs are rather "safe".

Scary thing is neither may be right? No one knows until you die and then you find out. Since you don't come back - you should just keep your religious beliefs to yourself and hope you are right!
