Both of you know each other, so discuss how best you can serve the school and your fellow students. Keep the balance between school politics and friendship, lay out your ground rules and maybe meet regularly, do not criticise one another but highlight your strengths. If you have such ground rules, am sure you will both enjoy the election. May the best win and respect the decision given towards your election by your fellow students.

Is there a vice president position? At many schools the first place winner is president and the remaining 3 top place people are then 3 vice presidents. Talk to your friend and tell her that you have always dreamed of running and that you want to run too and that win or lose you hope you can still be just as good friends.

Build up the military strength of the schools campus and enforce rules through unwavering torture sessions. Then at the right time, preferably just before the speeches, over run the schools administrative building(s) and announce a military dictatorship. This way there will be no presidential elections, your friend won't have anything to be angry or hurt over, and you can rename yourself with any title you want. Any one argues, throw them in the dungeons!!!

Talk to her. If you're really close, something like that shouldn't come between you. Maybe you could run for vice president if she would have a problem with you running against her.

Well, it kinda depends on your friends and your personality if you guys aren't the jealous type then you might be okay! but if you are then i'd try to work it out talk to your friend see what she has to say! Like everyone else said: if she is realy your bestfriend then it won't really matter! have fun with it and just go with it! you never know what will happen!

I think you should be able to do both. If you two are really best friends, then the one who loses will be happy for the winner and support her in the year ahead.
