Well, prison statistics tell us that the answer is NO. Meditate on this for a little while. Christians make up about 75% of the US population and 75% of the US prison population. No big surprise there.

Atheists, on the other hand, make up about 10% of the US population... but they only make up 0.2% of the US prison population. Now, isn't THAT a surprise? That means that atheists are FIFTY (50) times LESS LIKELY to be incarcerated than Christians. Pretty strange, huh, for a group that has no god-given guiding moral principals?

I can think of only two possibilities that might reasonably be said to account for this discrepancy:

1. Atheists are of a higher ethical and moral caliber than Christians, and thus are less prone to do the same kinds of nasty things that land so many Christians in the slammer;

OR,

2. Atheists are, overall, a lot smarter than Christians and thus, they are less likely to get caught in the course of their transgressions.

It's GOT to be one or the other... take your pick.

No! Who is without this so called sin! We where put here to learn, and by learning mistakes are made. How can one live a life without making mistakes?
In fact no one is any better than anyone else...Period.
Christians just don't know where to draw the line and trying to push their beliefs on anyone else....even by knocking on others doors at home...door to door preaching to an invasion of anothers privacy.

The Christian is no better than a non-Christian, but he is infinitely better off. It is like two men on a plane, one of whom is wearing a parachute while the other is not. Neither is better than the other, but the man with the parachute is certainly better off than the man who is not wearing a parachute. The difference will be seen when they jump from the plane at 20,000 feet. Jesus warned that if we jump into death without Him, we would perish.

Even harsher than the law of gravity is the Law of an infinitely holy and just Creator. Scripture states that sinners are God's enemy (Romans 5:10) and that it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God (Hebrews 10:31).

belief in god is a personal choice. you can chose to not belive in god per say and still be a good person. there are all different kinds of religons such as the native americans belive in several gods, but if you chose not to belive at all it does not make you a bad person, your actions in the way you live and treat people shows the type of person that you are.

No. It just makes u a better person that believes in the right thing. To a person who doesn't beleive in Him. BUt that doesn't mean that they are better or anything. They could believe in God but go and then vadalize and steal or sin eveyrday opposing to aperson who doesn't beleive but lives life without breaking rules. But in God's eyes its teh same thing. eveyrone is the same to Him but it depends on hwo their relationship with God is. He really loves the ones that truly love Him and would def die for Him no matter what and leave eveything that they have for Him.

Better, is a perception..... depends on who or what you are comparing who or what against?

Faith in God can make life lived "easier"..... depending on the perception of whether God loves you or the perception that God is some angry ego to be feared?

God is Love.
Tangible is temporary.

Life in a conditional reality is easier if you have faith that you are loved..... and not alone. (My perception.)

No, not a better person. I have many many faults, believe me. I think it makes me a more content person, because I believe that God is with me, and will welcome me into Heaven when I head out of here.

You have to understand that if one believes that, it is the most comforting thing there can be.

No being a good person is not dependent on belief in deities. Being a good person is dependent on how you treat others around you and that should be with respect and dignity.

Romans 3 (NIV):

19Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God. 20Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin.

Righteousness Through Faith
21But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. 22This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, 23for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. 25God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement,[i] through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— 26he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.
