Hi Claire...would you be able to be persuaded to convert your kitty to an indoor-only cat? This is the best way to prevent your kitty from getting picked on by cruel people or injured by vicious stray animals too. Indoor cats live a longer healthier life and can be entertained easily if you provide them with lots of toys as well as love. The toys don't always have to be store bought...cats love paper grocery bags, cardboard boxes, rings from milk jugs, toilet paper cardboard rollers, hair scrunchies, just about anything you allow you imagination to consider. Indoor cats are also less likely to catch diseases from other wildlife who are carriers of rabies, hanta virus, feline diseases such as leukemia, herpes from other infected cats even if your kitty is vaccinated, etc.
As for proving this unkind person killed your cat you would need witnesses who were actually there at the time it happened. The law is based on substantiated facts rather than just hearsay (he said...she said). All the police or the RSPCA may do is be willing to take a report, which most will decline without any witnesses or evidence such as a photo/video when it actually happened.
You could post your question again the the Yahoo Answers Politics & Government/Law & Ethics group http://answers.yahoo.com/dir/;_ylt=Ao2rBHlS559yFlr8SNWVUf3zy6IX?link=list&sid=396545448 . There are many people there with legal backgrounds who could indicate what options you could exercise against this individual. If you do decide to ask your question there in that group be sure to indicate where you live (city and state) as the laws can be very different in each state, city and county when it comes to animal cruelty cases.

Naw, they won't cause infertility. Think about it, how can an animal so fertile, cause infertility? Besides, back in the day when everyone had 12 kids, you know they had cats around to catch mice, so that makes no sense. They say that pregnant women shouldn't change the kitty litter, because there is a parasite in the feces that can cause toxoplasmosis. That is only dangerous for people who have never contracted it before, if you have and get it again, there is no risk to the fetus. You can ask your doctor for a blood test to see if you've ever had it. It causes flu-like symptoms so you may have been infected already, and didn't even know it. Cats get it from eating raw meat (typically from killing mice and small animals). As long as your cat doesn't do that (and lots of indoor cats don't), no worries. That is not the only way to get toxoplasmosis though, you can get it from handling raw meat.

that is terrible. i'm so sorry about your cat. don't worry about your spelling and your writing. i have so many cats i don't know how many. sometimes i even bottle feed orphans. if this guy does this again - try animal control where you live - or find some other animal rights group. the other thing you can do is get yourself into the paper - good human and pet interest story. let them go talk to this animal abuser! what he did is a crime. you may want to write to the chief of police or the editor of the paper and tell them about the inaction of the officers. i'm sure they just didn't want to be bothered. that is why you need an animal control officer on your side. they tend to be very much into protecting animals and some even carry guns and are very imposing. last thing - you contact me and i will come and kick the guy in the side! good luck. my heart goes out to you and your little fuzzy friend. try keeping your cats inside - it is not mean to do so and keeps them safe from idiots!

I have an Orange tabby cat name Snickers that is 10 years old (56 in cat years). He is an inside and outside cat. When he goes out I put a harness and a leash on he so he can't wonder off and get hurt. People laugh, but say it's a good idea

I am so sorry for your loss. I don't think people realise how close we become with our pets and that they are like one of the family.
I have a 17 year old cat, who is now as old as I am and we both hobble around here together. I don't know what I would do without him.
I don't know much about your circumstances but I would certainly let the guy know that the your pet died from his action. It won't bring your cat back but at least you will have told him the result of his action.
I hope he doesn't treat his Greyhound that way.

If they wont do anything Im not sure what else other then a non profit cat or animal agency for help, also consider making your cats indoor only. mine are I only let them out with me. and thats it because I dont trust people, pluss mine are pure bread so I figure people the way they are and take them, there Bengals. All my animals I do not let them run loose, I even make sure and keep my birds wings clipped and dogs only on a leash. Because of people like that

I had a cat for 18 years and then she died, I have another one now weve moved house and our neighbour isint too fond of her. we try to keep her inside so she wont go into her garden but its cruel cats love to be out to hunt and get air I cant keep her locked up 24-7. I suggest you come to an understanding with your neighbour keep your cat in for a couple of hours balanced by her being outdoors and about the fatal incident that was terrible try report it to the rspca again and see if they will listen, the best of luck to you

Tell him - (the evil b*stard) - to just walk his dog past your property; tell him "If my cat doesn't get out of your dog's way then it is her own fault if he kills her!" - when your cat outruns his greyhound (as I'm sure she will) say "Hmmm, better not bet the farm on THAT one then!"
My neighbour had a hunting dog and I had an old fat cat... one day we met in the back street and he looked at my cat - just as his dog spotted her - and he said "She's fat isn't she?" His dog took off after her like a thing possessed, Kizzy ran straight up a wall and sat there looking at this 'hunting' dog. I said "Well, he couldn't catch her, could he?"
