I am not sure about this, but I heard from a friend of mine that here (in Michigan), you can actually be the one to end up being fined for harassment if you try to do anything to "interfere with a mother's rights over her child", and feeding a child is not considered to be "lewd/indecent/sexual/etc behavior", which if that is true, then I agree that should not be "inappropiate", because a mother should to be allowed to feed her own child in anyway she wants to, and without fear of being "harassed" by others for it, and to be honest, as long as the child is not being abused or in any kind of danger (from say, like a mother trying to feed in the child in a moving vehicle...hey you know it could happen), I agree with you that it should not be a big deal.

I breastfeed in public all the time. Its not like I just whip it out for everyone to see. I try to cover with a blanket but my 5 month old son doesnt like that. I think that if you dont like the fact that I am feeding my baby then dont look! Breastfeeding is natural and something wonderful that only mothers can experience.

nah, it's no more offensive than seeing some big bubba wolfing down a big mac. It's just eating. Gee whiz. I'm sure there are weirdos that get off on different forms of eating, just as there are goofballs that get off on breastfeeding. Live & let live, I say. Gheesh! We should be grateful that there's a mom out there that cares enough about her cherub to give him/her the very best! great question! (not a repressed society, just an obsessed -- with political correctness, hellfire & brimstone, unless it's about themselves, and the like.)

I see no problem with breast feeding in public unless the mother is flashing her breast, which I have witnessed in a public place. Of course all of us guys had difficulty keeping our eyes off of her. It's just in our DNA We can't help it. We were created to admire things like that.

No there shouldn't be any legal penalties for breastfeeding in public. It is a natural thing. I have breast fed in public, it is sad that so many people are disgusted by this.

Breastfeeding is a personal choice and can be done in such a way that it wouldn't offend others. Many of my friends breastfed their babies and unless you were looking for it you would never have known.

No, but please be respectful of other people. I think it grosses some people out, but it is necessary. Just be discrete. Yeah, your kid has to eat, but the world doesn't want to see your milk-bloated breast then more than any other time. I may lose my modesty when I have kids, but I'll still be considerate of others!

i personally think it's disgusting when a woman breast feeds in public. it shows no manners towards other people that are around and don't wanna see it.
