Dress pants, shirt and a tie. A jacket is not necessary.No sneakers or jeans.

A shirt that looks like a tux and some black shorts or black jeans with holes in the knees! Then pluck a flower from thr neighbors flowerbed and safety pin it in your shirt! Oh wear a White Sox hat too! Good luck and knock 'em dead!

Okay, for a guy, that means the type of thing you would wear to Church or Thanksgiving at Grandma's. You're best off with something like khakis and a blazer or a suit.

OK so at my homecoming, the guys wore nice slacks and shirts. some had ties, others didn't
and a lot of girls wore black dresses

it means its not too formal, you can wear a nice button up shirt and a tie that matches your date's dress.

a dress basically... or skirt ensemble.... not too much of a prom like dress but a nice comfy dress that looks nice
